Open Season on the Police

This is such an incredibly touchy subject for me. At some point, you have to realize that police officers are human and they can only do so much before a gun gets pulled. Another part of me aches for the parents of this young man and can completely understand why people are uset about him being shot and killed. Teenagers are ignorant at times and can believe thay they need to stand up for themselves, regardless of the situation. In this case, I think the teen believed he was standing up for his rights, when if he just complied everything would have worked out. I pray for the family involved and I hope that they will find closure one day.

Herein is the problem. Too many police officers, backed by the jellyfish spine of a lot of prosecutor's offices, think that their badges give them license to treat people any kind of way they want. And then if the person attempts to take a stand against their unlawful treatment, they are charged with resisting arrest and shot and killed.

I'm sick of hearing people halfway trying to justify what these officers are doing to people over stupid petty stuff. How many people have to lose their lives over something foolish before something is done?

If these many police jurisdictions don't start doing something about these officers and the way that they are policing, watch and see how quickly the federal government will try to jump in and federalize all police officers and say it's because of the way officers have been violently policing.

I'm curious about this response too.

I'm thinking the last time I posted these reports it was more interesting for some here to read the accusations and insults thrown at me by another poster than the reports.

US cops killed more people in one month than UK cops did in the entire 20th century.View attachment 90

Good pic of you TCassidy. Thank you for your service to the American public.

And the graphics you showed should stun Americans. It's like we're at war within our own borders, and pieces like that in the OP are doing nothing but adding fuel to the fire for the federal government to nationalize all police departments for the safety of the American people Rolleyes of course.

I wonder if there is a clause in the Patriot Act that allows for this?

Okay by me. The difference between them and me is that I actually wore the badge for a long, long time. :)

I know that but unfortunately around here "credibility" has always been judged by how well one can repeat party talking points or demonize the other guy for questioning the "authorities".

Many people are blind to the truth. The militarization of the police should alarm every American citizen.

The idea of "qualified immunity" results in police hardly ever being held accountable for their actions.

The "Napoleon Complex" exhibited by many police officers is something that would have been weeded out of the applicant list before even being selected for the academy back in my day (I retired in 1989).

DUI and Border Patrol checkpoints stopping law abiding citizens without probable cause should alarm any law abiding American.

We are slowing seeing our constitutional rights being eroded away a small chip at a time.

Our First Amendment right to freedom of speech has been abrogated by "free speech zones" which presume that any area outside the zone is a place where free speech is forbidden.

I don't have to mention the 2nd amendment. Every "gun control" law passed by the socialists in congress violates the "shall not be infringed" clause.

The so-called "Patriot Act" has done away with the 4th amendment and the NSA no longer even bothers to deny they are listening to our phone calls and reading our email.

The 5th amendment right against self incrimination has been attacked with police telling people they have to answer questions.

And so on and so on and so on.

I did. You must have missed that also. Thanks. Do you even read my posts?

I do but when I do I an forced to wade through all the crazy and things can be hard to find. The only direct link I saw was to the guy who made the claim and posted graphs. I did not see the direct link.

Now you know how I feel having to sort through all the crazy mainstream narratives and appeals to emotion to get to the truth.

Anyways, after reading the FBI report (you posted) I can see where one might get the idea that "felonious" officer fatalities are increasing. The FBI is comparing 2013 "the safest year for police in recorded history" to one other year, 2014. What the FBI isn't doing is showing the "preceding" ten year average which looks like this . . .

officers-feloniously-killed-in-the-line-of-duty_custom-5f4f6cf10726dd9b8cc99cadd634667133ca38fa-s400-c85.png

http://www.npr.org/2015/09/17/441196546/is-there-a-war-on-police-the-statistics-say-no

So far in 2015 what could be called "felonious" officer fatalities are down 18% through 10/20/15.

Preliminary 2015 Law Enforcement Officer Fatalities

January 1 through October 20, 2015 vs. January 1 through October 20, 2014

Shows firearms related fatalities were down 18% where as traffic related fatalities were up 31% and "other causes" were up 59%

http://www.nleomf.org/facts/officer-fatalities-data/

Compared to 2011, 2014 was quite a bit less dangerous for police. Maybe my memory is failing but I don't remember the mainstream media and authoritarian police state apologists going into over drive to make the claim there was a "war on cops" or it was "open season on cops" in 2011.

So my conclusion is you're looking at what could be called an anomaly within a long downward trend and claiming it equals an "open season on police".

I'm sure you've come to a different conclusion so let's hear it.

In 2014 there were 49 police officers feloniously killed in the line of duty out of 117 from all causes.

In the same year there were 149 police officer suicides.

So, it would appear that police officers are 3 times more dangerous to themselves than they are in danger from the public.

In that same year police killed 1151 people. So the police are over 20 times more dangerous to the public than the public is dangerous to the police.

What we are seeing is political spin put on the news by the radical left wing media to create news where there is none in order to hide the real issues facing the country.

And, unfortunately, all too many people are falling for the deception. Not bothering to check the facts, just pass on false information. Pretty sad when you think about it. :(

Just got some updated info for 2015.

.........................2015..2014....% Change
Total Fatalities......102......87.........+17%
Firearms-related.....32......38.........-16%
Traffic-related.........42......32..........+31%
Other Causes...........28......17..........+65%

Please note: These numbers reflect total officer fatalities comparing
January 1 through October 21, 2015 vs. January 1 through October 21, 2014

Note also that firearms related death of police officers is DOWN 16% over last year.

So much for the liberal media's "Open Season on Police.":rolleyes:

Yeah, it's media manipulation. The corporate media is not there to inform us it's there to manipulate and conform us.

I know what you mean but technically the police department is under local government jurisdiction, so can't be as big as a state or national entity.

The fedcoats are busy working on making it a national entity ITL, a fully militarized national entity.

That's why we now have the DHS and federal "fusion centers" and if that wasn't bad enough now Obama wants to globalize local police departments with the "Strong Cities Network".
