74 years of sentences for high level fraudsters; US and rest of Europe bailed theirs out

In a story not reported on at all by any Western mainstream media source, Iceland just sentenced another five high level bankers to prison for directly contributing to the collapse of the country’s economy in 2008.

This brings the total to 26 bankers now behind bars in Iceland, with most being CEOs of large financial institutions, rather than low level traders.

Most of those jailed will serve terms of two to five years, according to a report by Iceland Magazine, which notes that three executives at Landsbankinn and two at Kaupþing, along with one prominent investor, have been prosecuted.

Their crimes include market manipulation, embezzlement, and breach of fiduciary duties. Their market manipulation destroyed the country’s economy and to this day Iceland is still having to repay the global loan sharks at the IMF, as well as governments of other countries, which kept the nation operating.

The article explains that the prosecutions have been possible because rather than protect and reward the very institutions responsible for the collapse, and the gangsters that run them, the Icelandic government let them fail, and then created a financial supervisory authority to strictly oversee the banks.

Iceland’s President, Olafur Ragnar Grimmson noted:

Hmmm, so the banksters don't control Iceland.

Is this the first you've heard about Iceland prosecuting the banksters?

Yes it is. I was aware that Iceland let their banks fail rather than bail them out.

And here in the US 4.5 million people lost their homes with 1.5 million of them being at or near retirement age, way to late to start over.

And the bankers responsible? They got multi-million dollar bonuses!

Close, but no cigar. The USG was sold after the Revolution to the eagerly awaiting bankers now running the IMF.
You'll never guess how they feel about Jesus Christ.
Hint: they REALLY LOVE Jesus, so much! They loved him to death.

I thought "decry" meant publicly denounce.

I can tell already you're going to be an exciting addition to the board. :)

It does. However, you're low right on the iron there.
On your second shot you were dead center. I suggest it is
not your sights but operator error; adjust accordingly.

I do think it deserves being pointed out ole Jones is a hack.
His interview with Duke handily showed that.

I don't know if hack is the right word. Sure he rubs some folks the wrong way and he gets kind of obnoxious at times but he's teleprompter free and the corporate presstitues and talking heads hate him.

He's interviewed some very interesting and informative people other than Duke. People the scripted corporate media hacks wouldn't interview in a thousand years or interview them only to demonize them.

I prefer to be informed if I just wanted to be entertained or learn what the latest party talking points are I'd tune into to one of the big conglomerated six. Some folks like the red kool aid and some like the blue. I don't find either of them particularly palatable.

If you'd want to talk about it you can message me back; we can email.
However, I'm taking a day off after dealing with a fool in another thread.

    LOL!

Also, what we may be seeing are differences between Icelandic and US law and legal systems. For example, I know in cases of libel and slander there are substantive difference between British and US laws.
