Since Carson is black and these are attacks on a black man is this racist? After all when people tried to scrutinize Obama all language and attempts were labeled as racist.

Neither Politico or Cheyney have admitted to doing anything of the such. Carson lied, embellished the truth or whatever else people want to call it because his "story" of come uppance has centered around that persona. Accept it for what it is. Stop trying to defend it. It happened. Moving on.

Although it meets their own criteria, the media is hypocritical so they would deny this is a racist attack.

I don't think it's racist, I think it is the usual dirt digging on the GOP frontrunner. Reminds me of the pathetic attempt in 2012 to paint Romney as some kind of a high school bully.

Far more interesting to me is the Carson campaign isn't crying racism and playing the race card, when this is a clear instance where they could do so.

Maybe the Carson campaign KNOWS what racism is and what it isn't. I've found that a lot of people don't know. They often confuse racial prejudices and outright ignorance for racism.

Politicians also often use the accusation of racism even when they know it is not because they are counting on the ignorance of the voters to not know the difference.

President Obama is Black. I don't like President Obama. To suggest the latter is the result of the former is the logical fallacy of Post hoc ergo propter hoc.

The idea that somehow what the liberal media is doing to Carson is different than conservative scrutiny and criticism of the President is different and therefore not racist is flat out wrong and absurd.

I do not know if I am having an ESL moment, but are you implying that the criticism directed at Carson is racist? Does not seem to be so, but after rereading it three times...

Politico has obviously made a grave journalistic error by posting this article with that headline. They published a hit piece and it has hurt their intended target...however, it also has reinforced some of the narrative Dr Carson and a few others in the GOP field have been holding that the liberal media isn't to be trusted.

Having actually read Dr Carson's biography, and also seeing his statements about this point, its obvious that Politico tried to make a mountain out of a molehill. It was 50 years ago.

But the hilarious thing is that, in turning down an opportunity to attend West Point, Dr Carson still went to Yale and the University of Michigan and became the country's foremost neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins for a period of time.

There is probably no greater evil to certain members of the committed left segment of American journalism than an articulate, well educated, conservative African American (male or female.) They go after them with a particular zeal.

I've been increasingly withdrawing from our broader society and listening to the junk in the major media outlets (including FoxNews and MSM sources.) This kind of piece just reinforces my position. Our country is awash in corruption, failure, and inept leaders. We are lurching towards social failure, I want nothing to do with it.

Well, think about it. The left considers blacks to be "their people" and a conservative like Carson isn't one of their people but he's supposed to be just another liberal black sheep. In other words, their property but now he's stolen property and deserves to be treated as such.

No, and I believe that, while it was not my intent, you have read my post with a reasonable interpretation. I should have worded it better.

Was listening to a talk show some years back, and the caller was a black who, when asked why blacks didn't use someone like Clarence Thomas as a role model, responded, "We don't consider him to be black!"
Just re-reinforces the above quote from 777!
