And now, there's photographic evidence to prove it.

Yale University recently released 170,000 photos from the Great Depression and World War II-era America: some classic, some obscure, many taken by New Deal government photographers, and all of them proving what bad SNIP your grandparents were.

From California, to the Bronx, to Alabama, the parents of your parents did nothing but demonstrate their strength, hard work, and good ol' fashioned American can-do know-how just-try-coming-at-me-and-you'll-see-what-happens, time and time again.

Here are 23 of those times

CBT Do you know if there any pictures of immigrant life styles among the 170,000?

My paternal Italian grandfather came over from Italy, became a barber and cut hair in and around the State House in Boston MA. At his departure from planet earth he owned large pieces of Real Estate in the "North End" worth mega-bucks.

Of which I saw none, my father having married into a family which included other than Italian heritage.

Hank, I do not know if there are photos that you ask about. Here is a link to the interactive map that puts all 170,000 photos at your fingertips. Good hunting for the photos you seek.

And here is a link to photos taken in Boston.
