Loretta Lynch Vows to Prosecute Those Who Use 'Anti-Muslim' Speech That 'Edges Toward Violence'

e day after a horrific shooting spree by a "radicalized" Muslim man and his partner in San Bernardino, California, Attorney General Loretta Lynch pledged to a group of Muslim activists that she would take aggressive action against anyone who used "anti-Muslim rhetoric" that "edges toward violence."

Speaking to the audience at the Muslim Advocate's 10th anniversary dinner Thursday, Lynch said her "greatest fear" is the "incredibly disturbing rise of anti-Muslim rhetoric" in America and vowed to prosecute any guilty of what she deemed violence-inspiring speech. She said:

The fear that you have just mentioned is in fact my greatest fear as a prosecutor, as someone who is sworn to the protection of all of the American people, which is that the rhetoric will be accompanied by acts of violence. My message to not just the Muslim community but to the entire American community is: we cannot give in to the fear that these backlashes are really based on.

What exactly are "actions predicated on violent talk"? In the end, it is whatever she decides it to mean.

Loretta Lynch Urges Muslim Parents To Contact Feds If Their Children Are Bullied

Speaking to a Muslim advocacy group on Thursday, Attorney General Loretta Lynch urged the parents of Muslim parents to contact the Justice Department and the Department of Education if their children are bullied at school.

“Other areas in which we are seeing growing areas of concern…specifically involve our children, and the issues of bullying and the schools,” Lynch said during a question-and-answer session at an event hosted by Muslim Advocates, a civil rights organization.

“We saw [bullying] a lot in the New York area, unfortunately, where there would be a backlash against the Muslim community in general,” added Lynch, a former U.S. attorney based in New York.

To address what she said is a growing problem of bullying of Muslim kids, Lynch urged parents to contact the federal government.

Just another problem of having a muslom, or at the very least a muslom sympathizer occupying the White House.

AG Lynch: ‘We’ve Had Over 1,000 Investigations Into Acts of Anti-Muslim Hatred, Including Rhetoric’

During an appearance at the Muslim Advocates annual dinner on Thursday, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said since 9/11, the Justice Department had “over 1,000 investigations into acts of anti-Muslim hatred, including rhetoric and bigoted actions,” and more than 45 prosecutions as a result.

“I think it’s important, however, that as we again talk about the importance of free speech, we make it clear that actions predicated on violent talk are not America. They are not who we are. They’re not what we do, and they will be prosecuted, so I want that message to be clear also,” she said.

I am trying to figure out what it is she intends to prosecute exactly and what ever it is good luck.

Hard to tell. I think she'll be making up the rules as she goes. Ugly talk, including what she calls anti muslim rhetoric (whatever that is), is still protected by the 1st amendment.

Could be just saying islam is not a religion of peace , but of the devil and death, might do the deed.

Senate republicans are weak kneed cowards and should never have approved this leftist moron.

Trouble was, Holder refused to leave until his position was filled and Obama was not about to nominate anyone that would not go along with his muslim apologetics and racist agenda.

Several people including a former congressman and governor are challenging her to arrest them for the anti muslim rants they are making. There will be others.

George E. Pataki ✔ @GovernorPataki
We must declare war on radical Islam. @LorettaLynch I'm not edging toward violent speech, I'm declaring we kill them. Go ahead, arrest me.

A former U.S. congressman urged Attorney General Loretta Lynch to arrest him after she warned on Thursday that her office would take a more aggressive approach to those spewing anti-Muslim rhetoric.

“I think Islam has a real freaking problem, alright?” Former Illinois Rep. Joe Walsh said in a video posted to his Facebook page. “There is a cancer in Islam, and if they’re not going to learn to assimilate, I don’t want them in this country.”

“You got a problem, Loretta Lynch, with me saying that? Then throw me in jail,” Walsh, a conservative talk show host, argued. “I think Islam is evil. I think Islam has a huge problem. I think most Muslims around the world are not compatible with American values. I don’t want them here.”

snip

“Any Muslim that is a terrorist or supports terrorism should be killed,” Walsh wrote. “If ‘Moderate’ Muslims don’t speak out against terrorism, they are our enemy and we should call them out and kick them out of this country.”

“Is that ‘anti-Muslim rhetoric’ that ‘edges toward violence,’” he continued. “Go ahead and prosecute me. I dare you.”

The neighbors saw something suspicious but probably remembered the "CLOCK KID" and thought better not get involved!! Now Lynch is reopening the Clock Kid case so the "if you see something say something" is a joke??

The Clock Boy is now being called just that by the liberal media since he said he wants to return to Texas. It ruins their narrative. A former valedictorian of that high school said she experienced no discrimination --only support as a Muslim. The boy and his family will not win a lawsuit.

Lynch recalibrates message on hateful speech

Attorney General Loretta Lynch Monday appeared to recalibrate remarks she made last week that suggested the Justice Department could investigate speech deemed hostile towards Muslims.
"Of course, we prosecute deeds and not words," she said at a press conference Monday

snip

Lynch's comments Monday seemed to better capture that balance by focusing on those who might act out, rather than those who may be fomenting trouble.
"We always have a concern when we see the rhetoric rising against any particular group in America, that it might inspire others to violent action — and that violent action is what we would have to deal with,"

She got her bluff called.

I agree this opens a bucket of worms. But when you've got right-wing radicals using their first amendment rights and it incites their denizens, which in turn gives them cause to i.e. go shoot up Planned Parenthood, she recognizes that something needs to be done.

I think this is part of the Obama administration's( and also the Bush 2 administration) desire to make known that the US is not at war with Islam.

With the way people are talking, it will only be a matter of time before some crazed right-winged nutcase decides to shoot up a mosque or some place that Muslims congregate.

She's trying to stop another massacre it seems.

Oddly enough, all the Islamophobia on the right is what will continue to drive the radical Muslims to be against us.

Make known that if you become President, that you'll go after their families.

That's the kind of stuff you say when you don't recognize that you're putting your own family in danger by making those type of comments.

Why should it have anything to do with that? The first post talks about the rhetoric towards Muslims and individuals possibly being prosecutable.

You need to pay closer attention.

Maybe you were in such a snit to post your leftist rant that you overlooked the post that was with my statement.
