Evangelist Franklin Graham quits the Republican Party over Planned Parenthood funding

(RNS) Evangelist Franklin Graham has announced he is abandoning the Republican Party in disgust over the move by the GOP-led Congress last week to pass a budget that Graham said was “wasteful” and provided funding for Planned Parenthood, which he compared to the Nazis.

Graham has previously said he has no faith in any political party, but his apparent renunciation of his Republican affiliation is an indication of anger on the right and the strong interest many disaffected evangelicals have shown in populist outsiders like Donald Trump.

Graham himself has expressed admiration for Trump, the surprise frontrunner in the Republican presidential field, and has voiced support for some of Trump’s more controversial positions — such as his call to ban Muslims from the U.S. — which have drawn condemnation from more mainstream evangelical leaders.

The emperor has no clothes as he didn't quit the party when they nominated a man who summarily rejects Jesus as Lord and Savior, and the Billy Graham Association moved Mormons off their cult list on their website.

And he expresses admiration for a man who publicly displays NOTHING of the love of Christ.

Sit down Franklin.

Zaac, it does send a message. True, a mixed message, but a message nonetheless.

That it does Hank. I would be appalled, but I've almost come to expect this type of behavior out of a lot of folks who say they are Christians and also identify as political conservatives. Specifically where they make it looks like Jesus Christ takes a second chair to their political beliefs.

He makes it look like abortion is a bigger issue with him than people rejecting Christ and it just makes no GOD sense.

He's a minister of the Gospel. He should have stressed THAT instead of politics. He used to do that.

Oh, really? Do you have anything other than criticism of Fundamentalists and Evangelicals?

Here is some Scripture for you to explain in light of the GOP funding of abortion on demand:

Matthew 19:18 (KJV) He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

Yes. Some are really good at not exampling the love of Christ.Thumbsup

What do you want me to say to him and the others? How about "Way to go guys in often pretending like you've got convictions and stand on the way of Christ while all the while during the 2012 election cycle you were throwing your support behind a man who rejects Christ"?

While you got your Bible open, flip over to the Greatest Commandment and the Second Greatest Commandment. They kinda cover the stuff you just mentioned. Oddly, a lot of so called evangelicals and funadamentalists miss the mark of what makes each what it's supposed to be because they are so caught up in the politics of the GOP.
