Few Recall Gorsuch’s Volunteer Work at Harvard

It matters not if a supreme court candidate is liberal, conservative or somewhere in between, he/she should be absolutely truthful about themselves, their judicial philosophy and their past history.

When President Donald Trump introduced his Supreme Court pick on live television last week, he said Neil Gorsuch had “demonstrated a commitment to helping the less fortunate” by working in the Harvard Prison Legal Assistance Project and the Harvard Defenders.

His affiliation with these volunteer programs—which offer law school students real-life legal experience representing prison inmates and the poor—helped give Mr. Gorsuch’s deeply conservative résumé a personal touch, and the groups were highlighted in news reports about his nomination.

But roughly three dozen students who participated in the two programs while Mr. Gorsuch was at Harvard Law School from 1988 to 1991 said they have no recollection of his involvement.

That wouldn't be surprising. Do you recall the student teacher you had in 10th grade English?

Yes, I didn't have any. But that is the wrong rabbit track to bring up

The people saying they did not remember him were his classmates, other students in the program he says he was in and they say they do not remember him. They were students helping prisoners, etc.

Sorry, I misunderstood your initial post. Thanks for the clarification.

To be fair, I don't recall any of the cohort I graduated with in my field of study. They weren't the folks I hung around with, even though they were in my classes.

Funny, someof Obama's classmates said he never went there. As a matter of fact, they say for sure he was not in their classes.

Some say he was openly gay! One recalls he loved cocaine. Are we lending credibility to these people now?

Reminds me of all the people who didn't remember Obama attending one of his colleges.

You certainly didn't care about that.

More hypocrisy.

Like Elena Kagan lied about her working to get Obamacare passed? And didn't recuse herself on Obamacare cases?

That kind of truthfulness.

I don't remember you demanding "honesty" from her.

More hypocrisy.

Possibly, but you would never be able to recall.

Unless a person has identic memory s/he won't recall a person for whom there is no idea that they will be famous.

I think you mean "eidetic memory" and while they might not remember the person from high school, surely a reading of their bio subsequent to becoming famous would mention the person was a substitute English teacher in your town and that would jog your memory.

Perhaps, but likely not. I can't remember any substitute teacher from my past and a picture of them back in the day wouldn't likely stir a memory.

Not remembering a substitute teacher is quite different from not remembering a classmate in a club that works with prisoners.
