The Republican health-care bill threatens Trump's voters

"To the victor belong the spoils," candidate Donald Trump reminded 2016 voters. But the House Republican health bill turns that old maxim on its head.

Instead of broadly rewarding Trump's backers, the House bill hands huge benefits to the tiny share of his voters earning the highest incomes. Their gains come at the expense of the much larger group of older, blue-collar whites who flocked to his "Make America Great Again" banner.

That redistribution of money from less-affluent Trump supporters to wealthy ones complicates the ability of Congress to deliver on "repeal-and-replace" promises. And it foreshadows tensions within Trump's coalition that will loom over later efforts to enact tax reform.

getting rid of the mandates, giving tax cerdits to all, allowing for cross state insurance, how are those only helping upper class? Did not the Obama Care only help the upper clas, as only they could afford to pay new premiums?

Look at the entire bill and stop cherry-picking. You are going to be hurt financially if this bill is past.

Yeah, I don't see this bill changing things for me any more than what has been done... I'm hurting now.

The insurance companies are bailing out of ObamaCare.
Something needs to be done! It is failing before our eyes.

The kicker is that if the Democrats had won Congress in the last election, I imagine they might have submitted a bill very similar to this one... ...(minus the temporary defunding of Planned Parenthood and minus the unfunding of abortion services).

And Republicans would have unanamously voted against it.

The pitfall the Republican's who designed this bill dug for Trump (and themselves) is that many of the features that that are abhorent will take effect just before the next presidental election.

What we need is a far-sighted leader with bold ideas and the ability to motivate congress to better things.

Trump is bold (who can deny that?) but I don't think there is a person alive that could unite politicians today.

What a load of propaganda. The Medicare surcharge is being eliminated and the investment capital gains tax surcharge is being eliminated.OF COURSE these tax breaks are going to the wealthy for it was only the wealthy that had these taxes imposed on them.

First off, you could have the same article written in 2010 saying this: "The ACA bill targets huge new taxes on a tiny, tiny sliver of American taxpayers."

Secondly, I will ask you this again for the umpteenth time: How does cutting taxes on the rich cause the middle class to be made poorer? If you care to answer it, I can stop asking it. The corollary question is: How does the rich getting richer destroy the middle class? You can take a shot at that one too.

Lay off the processed foods, twinkies, and foreign imported foods and it really doesn't matter the dollar amount one earns to establish and maintain a healthy body.

Make America Great Again ~ fabulous slogan, wouldn't you agree?

If you look as to how our economic system works best, its when the wealthy are allowed to keep their money, and have the tax system set up in a way that would give them incentives to invest and apply more monies into economy , as they would be the main agents to get fresh money into loop, and be creating more jobs by more business activity!

The irony here is that it is the Senator Byrd law, a dem, that will not allow for Tort reform/selling insurance across state lines to be added onto this bill, as those 2 things will allow for a big help to reducing the costs of healthcare!

Uh huh.

its when the wealthy are allowed to keep their money,
creating more jobs

Problem is;
Burdens simply WANT the wealthy to GIVE them money and DO NOT WANT a JOB!

Precisely WHY they ARE a Burden and NOT an Asset!
