An aircraft carrier strike group that the Trump administration had warned was headed toward North Korea in a powerful show of force has instead spent the last week thousands of miles away — and heading in the opposite direction.

The Pentagon’s disclosure on April 8 that the Carl Vinson carrier strike force was being diverted to waters near North Korea had contributed to rising global tensions over a possible U.S. conflict with the nuclear-armed regime in Pyongyang.

Senior administration officials repeatedly cited the orders to rush the Carl Vinson strike force from Singapore to North Korea as a sign of President Trump’s willingness to directly confront a regime that has conducted five nuclear tests and multiple missile launches in violation of United Nations resolutions.

It was widely assumed that the carrier group was patrolling somewhere within range last weekend, when U.S. officials feared Kim Jong Un’s military would conduct a sixth underground nuclear test, or would try to test launch an intercontinental ballistic missile for the first time.

The U.S. ships have the ability to shoot down incoming missiles and launch cruise missiles of their own.

The Navy’s admission that the Carl Vinson and four other warships were, in fact, conducting exercises in the Indian Ocean last week and were still in Indonesian waters as of Saturday has raised fresh questions about the credibility of the White House, which has frequently come under attack for making false claims.

A person cannot believe anything this administration says. I fear this is going to create huge problems and perhaps a disaster for our country. This one must be a four-nose lie.

It probably was a rough ride for the sailors in the smaller ships.

Not at all. Trump is a PRO. He and his administration is the biggest PRO in our history. If a president or his administration is going to tell lies then they should be ones that are not so easily discovered. Of course they will point fingers at other to try to cover their lie. But ...........................this one should be a four nose lie. Maybe they need a new eight nose lie category.

    Wait.

I thought Trump didn't reveal his plans for the enemy ahead of time?

BTW, where is that plan to destroy ISIS that he was going to implement on "Day One"?

Ah, ah, ah. Is it patriotic to ask questions?

Didn't Trump promise to label China as a currency manipulator?

Seems he promised in Mt. Pleasant, SC not to allow profiling of Muslims.

Didn't Trump promised to make policy decisions transparent?

Didn't Trump promised to rarely leave the White House and not take vacation?

    Oh well.....................

Where our carriers are should be top secret. I don't mind having the little twit in Korea think our whole navy is off his shore. Let him ramp up his defence and waste his resources. Higher alert is higher expense.

Kind of hard to hide an aircraft carrier from an enemy or keeping their location secret.

And rather impossible when transiting a strait as narrow as the Sunda Strait. Between the sandbars, the narrow shipping lanes, the shallow waters and fast currents it is a tough transit. The western end of the strait is only 15 miles across.

It is not good strategy to let the enemy know where you are or your strength. Walk softly and carry a big stick.

Kim seemed to have a different facial expression when the carrier group was supposedly headed towards him.

Why do most of Kim's missile launches fail?

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
