Paglia says Bruni's newspaper and the Democratic Party still have "soul searching" left to do about why they called 2016 wrong. "It is incumbent upon the defeated party to pull itself together, or else we're going to get the reelection of the present administration," she said.

"I didn't take him seriously at all," she said about the early days of the Trump campaign. "And then, shortly after the very first Republican debate, I saw Diamond & Silk, the African-American sisters doing a pro-Trump attack on Megyn Kelly on their podcast, and... I suddenly saw the populism, and from that moment forward, I could feel the momentum of it."

"The New York media was in an absolute bubble about this," she added.

Andy Cohen said he had similar thoughts: "Just today I was walking by a monitor, I don't know what channel was on, but there was -- he has some slogan about jobs for America or some new plan. And I saw that chyron: 'Jobs For America Plan,' and I thought to myself... it doesn't even matter if this works or not, he could get reelected just because he has a 'Jobs For America' plan."

He has been in office only three months.

Just shows the blindness of optimism...

Also shows it is a way for Trump to help his own companies.

President Donald Trump’s re-election fundraising is going gangbusters, and so is the income his own businesses are reaping from those contributions. The president’s 2020 campaign has already spent close to $500,000 on Trump’s businesses, from golf resorts to Trump Tower rent, according to new campaign finance filings.

Optimism = Naive perspective. A much more realistic view is "Don't believe anything you hear & only half of what you see" -- Quoting Sonny in the movie 'A BRONX TALE'

I thought the same thing about Obama and was shocked when he was reelected. I don't want to fall into either hubris that says the Republican will have a majority forever (showing a lack of understanding of history and the lesson of Obama on Democratic party) or that things will be shaken up in 4 years. (Showing a lack of understanding of human nature) We will see what happens in 2018 and I think that will depend on if Obamacare is repealed or not.

Then America is far more stupid than I could have ever imagined. Hopefully they collectively have wised up but we will see.

What was FDR able to accomplish in the first 100 days?

FDR's first 100 days, ok 105 days ... lots and lots accomplished.

In the next 100 days — O.K., 105, but who's counting? — his Administration shepherded 15 major bills through Congress. It was the most intense period of lawmaking ever undertaken by Congress — a "presidential barrage of ideas and programs," historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr. observed, "unlike anything known to American history."

    What makes you think so?

    1. He is very unpopular. He is 70 years old.
    2. The average lifespan for an American man is 76.

Work programs to both help the unemployed & build infrastructure.....true shovel ready jobs. Of course the republicans will call that socialism & brand it as an entitlement ....none the less, it kept people from starving.

    Your opinion is noted.

I had believed that Americans would not elect Obama as President in 2008. Not that McCain was a gem.
However, I was wrong. Well certainly they would not possibly elect him again in 2012. How could they do that?
    It happened again.

Trump is far, far better than Obama. For America to vote Trump in was a wise choice. Having Hillary in the Oval Office would have meant a catasprophe for our nation.

You believe anything the MSM puts out.

Trump is actually very popular among most Americans.

Trump is a healthy guy. He has amazing energy. He's got a lot of endurance.
Plus, he's a hard worker. (That could not be said of the Big O).

White men usually live longer than some other ethnic groups. He looks like he could live until his 90s, barring unusual circumstances. A lot of us on the BB have known of relatives living around 100 years or so. My dad is 96 for example.

Convincing the people they are not smart enough, talented enough or capable of being a FREE person who can provide for themselves, and therefor must subject themselves to being a dependent of the government.

Same thing every democrat "leader" teaches and projects to their minions and minds of children in public schools; closely following the Communist Manifesto.

    Al Gore indoctrinating school kids;

How horrible it would have been for Hillary to have been elected, visit a foreign nation, and "again, be under fire as she departed the plane".... lol....operative word..."again"..!!

Who can "confuse" being handed flowers, with being under gun fire? LOL

As I understand it, FDR used the term 100 days in July. And he was referring to 100 legislative days, not executive. And much of what was passed in the hundred days was later struck down by the Supreme Court.
