Trump Seeks to Avoid Withdrawal from Paris Climate Accords

NEW YORK—Trump administration officials said Saturday the U.S. wouldn’t pull out of the Paris Agreement, offering to re-engage in the international deal to fight climate change, according to multiple officials at a global warming summit.

The U.S. position on reviewing the terms of its participation in the landmark accord came during a meeting of more than 30 ministers led by Canada, China, and the European Union in Montreal.

However, a White House spokeswoman says ‘no change’ in U.S. position on deal.

Well, it's the Wall Street Journal. They don't have a habit of reporting Fake News.

Sometimes it's hard to figure out exactly what's going on within the administration.

Could be another one of those situations where "you say things when you are running for President but then when you get behind the desk in the Oval Office you get educated as to how things really are," or whatever similar thing Trump said about DACA.

Or it could be the Trump administration was floating a trial balloon negotiating position to these ministers at the environmental conference and when someone leaked their overture they had to backpedal. It wouldn't be the first time a Trump negotiating position was shot before the real talks began.
