Did anyone else see the SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch on Tuesday? It was like we were back in the early days of space exploration. The launch was incredible, especially the touchdowns of the two rocket booster rockets. SpaceX had over 15 launches last year and is set to break that record in 2018. Currently, a launch is set for every week this month. If you haven't seen it, take a moment to google it. Plus, I love the way that they announce what is going on -- really cool.

I saw the launch from the Greater Orlando area. I was driving through the orange groves when I saw this bright orange "UFO" in the sky. LOL. I looked at it for a moment before remembering there as a launch scheduled for that afternoon. I pulled over onto the grass shoulder and watched it for a few minutes until shortly after SRB sep. Impressive even from 40+ miles away.

It's not the launch that was spectacular, but the return of the two lower stages that was for me. They come down from space, spin around, their retro rockets fire, and they land a couple of hundred feet from each other - one just a short time after the first one. Now that was amazing.

That was pretty neat. Wish NASA could figure out how to fly.

Don't think that will happen. Most, if not all future launches will be by private companies - perhaps in conjunction with NASA at best. Later this year, SpaceX is scheduled to bring astronauts to the ISS.

You're right. That was incredible. Another SpaceX launch is scheduled for this Saturday (this time from California) and will feature a reused Falcon 9 rocket. To me, it's amazing that they are able to re-use these.
