OK, I will readily admit that my supernatural gifts, to those at my Charismatic church, have one of three sources: flesh, devil, the Living God.

I must be careful about making sure they are not of my flesh.

That said, I am convinced it is instead one of two sources that give me spiritual power: The Holy Spirit of the Living God, as I believe, or the devil.

Here is a list of the spiritual gifts I now have that would need to be tested:

I now speak in tongues, interpret tongues, perform miracles, have words of wisdom, prophetically intercede, prophetically sing, have prophetic dreams, have visions, have prophetic impressions, hear an audible prophetic voice, get the words of the Holy Spirit put into my mouth sometimes, and prophetically write theology, bible teachings, and foreign policy.

OK what bible verses would you turn to if you, like me, in essence prayed for supernatural gifts and got them, like waking up one day and having supernatural power? What are the straightforward, uncontroversial biblical litmus tests for the gifts you would possess? I ask for uncontroversial because those carry much greater authority in a Body of Christ where we may have itching ears.

John of Japan did a great job before but I would like to delve deeper not only into his litmus tests but into everyone else's. I will use such tests that withstand closer scrutiny to weigh the results of my supernatural gifts and see of whom they come to me from.

    John of Japan:

To me, here is the key. If you are truly filled with the Spirit, you will see people saved. That is Biblical. Acts 4:31--"And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness."

If you are filled with the Spirit, you will have the fruit of the Spirit, not tongues: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, self-control. This is a description of the Holy Spirit Himself. If you do not find yourself growing in all of these areas, it is not from the Holy Spirit.

I believe you got a lot of answers in your first thread. As I said there:
    1. Does it line up with Scripture?
    2. Who does it bring glory too?

Number 2 immediately weeds a lot of people and ministers out.

How is writing foreign policy a supernatural gift? What scriptural basis do you rest that "gift" on?

Those are very good, I'm sorry I missed them. I must go back through that last thread, because I lost track of a lot of stuff.

That is an excellent observation that corrected me. This convinces me I should stay in this "Other Denominations" forum and continue to hang out with everyone here to be sharpened. I was going to test every word of wisdom with my elder and other revelatory ministers, to understand what they think. However, your correction stands.

I have received what I thought was revelation on a great variety of subjects. Observations that came put of nowhere in my mind to make everything make sense on a variety of subjects both personal and public. I have only really walked in this ability since I became a born again Believer two years ago. I thought it was similar to how certain people in the bible are given a spirit of wisdom and understanding when it comes to ruling a people such as Daniel, Joseph, David, and Solomon. I thought it was God making clear the situation so I could make right choices. This does seem to be the truth as those observations all brought me out of unholiness to greater holiness and personal righteousness.

However, I now realize it is only wisdom and understanding of the Spirit as all Believers can have access to (Colossians 1:9) and not prophecy. I am thankful I never shared the substance with anyone and that you corrected me. I must go to my pastor and ask him to teach me to distinguish between all the various gifts the Spirit gives. My "words of wisdom" are almost certainly just the outworking of the Holy Spirit naturally in my life when I earnestly seek after the wisdom and understanding of the Spirit.

I see now from the bible that a word of wisdom is something more like "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's." Timeless and impossible to argue with unless you are a scoffer or fool who discounts the basics like God existing.

    I feel embarrassed and stupid.

That was the only gift of I have had access to the whole last two years. The other being tongues.

Every bit as important as John of Japan's observations.

    Thus so far I have:

    1. Does it bring fame to God and not man? (1 Peter 4:10-11)
    2. Does it lead people to Jesus? (Acts 2)
    3. Does it strengthen me? (Romans 1:11)
    4. Does it testify to Jesus? (John 15:26)
    5. Does it benefit others? (1 Corinthians 12:7)

I think we must debate the test of gifts always producing the fruit of the Spirit. If that were so, then why are the Corinthians told to be careful to operate their gifts in love with faith and hope. It sounds like they could screw this up in the first place.

Don't feel embarrassed. We all learn as we go. I am not going to weigh in on the discussion as to whether or not the office of prophet still operates. What I will do is say that scripture is plain that if even one prophesy of a "prophet" does not come to pass then he is a false prophet. How many modern day "prophets" does that weed out?

The Church of Corinth is prime evidence that the genuine gifts of The Spirit can indeed be abused.

If we are saved we have awoken with supernatural gifting. We are to use these gifts to function within the local church towards the accomplishment of Kingdom work.

Oh, at least 50% probably far higher. I have never had a prediction of the future fail and I have had dozens of prophetic dreams. I know that the second my prophecy fails I have committed a dire crime before God by speaking presumptuously. I only wonder why so many people follow prophets that don't have accuracy. The good news is I have found a good google search on prophetic words usually churn up the ones with accuracy if you are careful of the occasional odd man out.

I must note that I have had prophetic dreams of the future for years, even as a non born-again Christian. Someone who goes "Lord! Lord!" at the judgment to go to hell in the end.

As for the gifts, I found this excellent article that is teaching me much at Bible.org:
    The Gifts of the Spirit

I must delve into the theology of the gifts to better understand what I work in to serve the Body better. This author calls what I have Wisdom, which is funny because apart from the amazing observations I get every once in a while, I'm pretty foolish. Historically it seems apologists walk in this gift most powerfully as far as Church history tells me.

I think you have a demon, it needs to be cast out. PM if you need help...I'd seek out some before you can no longer discern right from wrong.

When you said you dealt with schizophrenia I thought about this....

How do you know about such things? Can you be sure that you are giving him accurate advice?

Demons are very real and Biblical....he said he was schizophrenic. Did you take a look at the video?

He has weird sounds coming from him, he's speaking in strange noises, he thinks he can control the weather and effect others around him. Demons clearly.

And of course also to be sure they are not of the devil. Only one of those 3 sources is a good one.

The following happened that adds new understanding to all of this:

I seem to have lost my "gift of interpretation of tongues" as well.

I have prayed the same prayer on the gift of prophecy, and I still have it. In fact the first words to me were "Jesus is Lord."

We Catholics have Lightsabers and Pirates, so I'm not jelly over your spiritual gifts.

Steve....if you think you are such a screw up......and accidentally go to the evil side with the devil..... your bound to screw up all the perfect evil plans Satan thought up in first place.

So either way your kinda of Saint. :Ninja

If I woke up tomorrow with what you call "Supernatural Gifting" I would cry out to God to deliver me from the clutches of Satan, the Evil Deceiver.

    Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

We had a discussion on another one of your threads on this same topic where you mentioned that you no longer think you had the gift of tongues or interpretation of them - as God has showed you that it was not the real Bible gift but a modern counterfeit.

That left you with among other things - the gift of prophecy .. and so I pointed you to Numbers 12:6-12 the case of Moses vs the prophets ... and the prophets were his brother and sister in that case -- Aaron and Miriam.

I also mentioned that SDAs have association with a prophet having about 100,000 pages of inspired manuscript to give you some idea of how much more informed SDAs tend to be with the topic of modern prophets -- than a lot of people.

    You said this --

I find that a bit surprising for two reasons.

    1. Normally I only expect SDAs themselves to accept Ellen White as a prophet and I did not make much of a case for it with you - it was just a passing reference.

    2. But I am surprised that you would pick the vegetarian issue as the thing that makes you think she could not possibly be a prophet - given that the diet mankind was given in Genesis 1 is not only vegetarian - but vegan.

The other thing that makes it "surprising" is the modern understanding of "blue zones". the entire world has only 5 "Blue Zones" and America has exactly one of them.. and that "one" is the Adventist health center in Loma Linda California - where the lifestyle and diet promoted their is 100% from what God told Ellen White about diet and health.

A blue zone is defined as a place where people live to be 100 and stay healthy overall. This is not an SDA concept. It is purely national geographic.

5 “Blue Zones” Where the World’s Healthiest People Live

Blue Zones - Places In the World Where People Live to 100 and Stay Healthy

you claim this is the main "sign" to you that God gave Ellen White no messages.

I have to wonder about your "gifts" if they are telling you that this is the main sign that she had no messages from God. Or is this your personal view?
