In December 2012, a gunman walked into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, and killed 20 children, six adults, and himself. Since then, there have been at least 1,686 mass shootings, with at least 1,941 people killed and 7,104 wounded.

The counts come from the Gun Violence Archive, a database that tracks events since 2013 in which four or more people (not counting the shooter) were shot at the same general time and location. The database’s researchers comb through hundreds of news stories, police reports, and other sources each day and individually verify the reports. Still, since some shootings aren't reported, the database is likely missing some shootings, and some are missing details. The count is also a constant work in progress, so some of the numbers and details may be slightly imprecise.

Australian comedian perfectly sums up why other countries think US gun laws are crazy

Every shooting is its own private tragedy for the victims and their families. But events like this are also part of a much bigger problem. The United States has far more gun violence than the rest of the developed world. To Americans, that can seem like a regrettable but unavoidable fact of life. But to much of the rest of the world, the US attitude toward gun control seems absolutely crazy.

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens

SANTA FE, TX—In the hours following a violent rampage in Texas in which a lone attacker killed eight individuals and seriously injured several others, citizens living in the only country where this kind of mass killing routinely occurs reportedly concluded Friday that there was no way to prevent the massacre from taking place. “This was a terrible tragedy, but sometimes these things just happen and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop them,” said Ohio resident Erica Webb, echoing sentiments expressed by tens of millions of individuals who reside in a nation where over half of the world’s deadliest mass shootings have occurred in the past 50 years and whose citizens are 20 times more likely to die of gun violence than those of other developed nations. “It’s a shame, but what can we do? There really wasn’t anything that was going to keep this individual from snapping and killing a lot of people if that’s what they really wanted.” At press time, residents of the only economically advanced nation in the world where roughly two mass shootings have occurred every month for the past eight years were referring to themselves and their situation as “helpless.”

Shows that more gun control laws will do zilch, as we need to focus on getting the Gospel out, helping mentally ill people, and allowing schools and churches to arm themselves!

Mexico has lot's of gun death's and the citizenry is basically prohibited from owning firearms. Maybe it's the type of people who are involved and not the guns?

In Chicago they are killing themselves left and right, but go over to Indiana or Wisconsin where guns of every type are prevalent yet they are not killing each other like they do in Chicago. Maybe it's the type of people who are involved and not the guns?

The same thing is happening in Washington D.C., but go to Virginia where lots of guns are available and it is different. Maybe it's the type people who are involved and not the guns?

In NJ our kill rate with guns are relatively low. Really, only the criminals have them.

I don't understand your logic. There have been no significant gun control measures passed since Sandy Hook. This says exactly the opposite of your statement.

Neither does Trump. That's why our major allies are starting to write off America. They don't want him to step foot inside their country (example the U.K. and Germany).

    A few facts:

    1. Americans own almost half of the civilian owned guns in the world.
    2. Americans own more guns per capita than any other country in the world.
    3. Although America has only 5% of the world's population, we hold over 30% of the global mass shooters.
    4. Gun homicide rates are 25 times higher in the U.S. than in any other developed country

This post only proves how wickedly depraved America is and how much we need the Gospel to go forth. People are killing people. That's what it boils down to. Violence is celebrated in America. Guns are a smoke screen...people are wicked, not inanimate objects.

Once again I'm here to fact check your posts.

Note you said "gun homicide rate". That is murder of another person by a person using a gun. That is not the same thing as gun violence rate. Nor is it the same as deaths by guns, which could include suicide.

So--you said gun homicide rate is 25X higher in the U.S. than in any other developed country. These are the conditions you set down.

    Once again you are wrong.

US gun homicide rate is 5.4X higher than Canada.
US gun homicide rate is 6.75X higher than Italy.
US gun homicide rate is 13.5X higher than Switzerland.

Notice this is not 25X higher...

For the record, please list each and everyone of them, or at least provide the source for this claim. Thank you in advance.

We are not helpless, we need to harden up our schools to prevent the ingress of people with firearms. It can be done, but the only thing the anti - gun types are for is banning guns while ignoring the Federal and many State constitutional provisions against such a thing.

LOL that ain't my claim; it's the title of this thread, and thus FollowTheWay's claim.
