This, I'd call "exciting" news seems to mostly be getting ignored by the mainstream media:

Considering the prospect of the "Star Wars Initiative" contributed to the end of the Cold War, I have no problems with this program.

No doubt it will be heavily funded. As much as I like Vice President Pence, I'm surprised he could say "Space Force" with a straight face.

Reagan's "Star Wars" program was given that name to mock the program. I guess Trump has once again out maneuvered his opponents by giving the name up front.

The Japanese tried something similar with the G-Force and it didn't work out so well.

It will happen.

The Space Force uniform should be black (like outer space).
Rank names will probably follow AF standards unless of course the president likes Admiral Tiberius Kirk :)

Uniform design should be interesting.

I predict a gray uniform (unless of course someone says "its a CONFEDERATE UNIFORM!".

:D

Well, hopefully, it can get up and running before the Klingons or Romulans come calling.

I suspect we have some top secret defensive "Star Wars" weaponry already in space. Russia probably doesn't have a clue what is there. I'd be disappointed if we didn't have some surprises up there..

Elon Musk is leading the way but several other U.S. developers are also on his heals. Even though we haven't kept up on human space travel I believe we are second to none in our space and technological advances.

I think we should invest heavily in our space program. I remember when I started out in woodworking the very best motorized tools were made by Rockwell which used designs it developed for NASA. Likewise, I think an accelerated space program will create innovative technology that will set us apart - if we can keep China from steeling it all.

Cool stuff!
