HAMMOND – Two people were taken to the hospital and as many as ten others had to be pulled from beneath a collapsed floor

Beams broke under peoples’ weight and fell...“the wood floor cracked,” Walter Ard, an eyewitness, told the newspaper....Ten to eleven people were rescued by the fire department that responded with a ladder truck.

"I just heard the people screaming when they fell....Some of the parishioners that was down there, some of them family members had reached up and you know, passed, some of the smaller people up."
