Thank you for sharing this, Rob_BW. I’m saddened to hear it, as our community group is currently doing his “Be Real” study on 1 John.

I've picked up a number of his works from Logos. Was always a fan.

When I got out of the Air Force I had a long haul delivery job for the summer. I listed to Warren Wiersbe every morning on the radio. He was great company when I was on the road.

Although I did not share his Calvinistic take on scripture, I did learn from and enjoy many of his writings (the BE series). He did not hide his views in ambiguity.

He was the Calvinist counterpart to Church Swindoll, as both of them were really good at how to apply the doctrines of scriptures, practical application.

I'm sorry to hear that. I have his book of summaries of the chapters of the bible....

    .....and he's in my signature.

    Huh?

Wiersbe profiled by Rippon in his BB thread "Arminians That I Admire":

I am sorry but Mr. Rippon sometimes posted erroneous views.

As I often ask the deniers, which points of the TULIP did Dr. Wiesbe argue against?

Both Arminians and Calvinists believe in "total spiritual inability" the "T" of the Tulip, but solve it in differing ways, irresistible or prevenient grace. So his support does not tip the scales.

Unconditional Election, the "U" of the Tulip, is held only by Calvinists, so Dr. Wiesbe's support does tip the scale. See his commentary on Ephesians 1:4.

I have always wondered about that. He wrote some things on election that indicate he may have believed in unconditional election but I have ever heard or read anything from him in which he stated his belief plainly. Calvinist or not, I benefited greatly from his talks.

    Betty Lorraine Wiersbe • October 25, 1929 - June 15, 2019

Maiden name same as husband's given name, met while attending seminary

"Warren could not have done the work necessary to preach and write as he did, had not Betty been an equally gifted partner."

"In the fall of 1949 Betty enrolled at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago for Bible training. She had sensed a call from God to Christian service....One professor required students to sit in alphabetical order. When he called 'Warren,' both Betty and classmate Warren Wiersbe responded 'Here!' The rest is history. Betty graduated from Northern Seminary in 1952....She and Warren were married in Clinton, WI on June 20, 1953....and were married almost 66 years....Betty and Warren were a team, married partners serving the Lord together."

"After Warren died on May 2, 2019, Betty’s interest in the world waned. Her mission of being Warren’s helpmate was fulfilled. She declined steadily until she was called into her Savior’s presence. Betty’s family looks forward to seeing her in heaven"

"In lieu of flowers, Betty’s family suggests memorial gifts be sent to Cedarville University for establishing the Warren & Betty Wiersbe Library"
