Do you not know the same is done with all social media even corporate and church web sites that post photos?

Mining information has regularly been done, even prior to computers when companies would purchase each others client lists.

there is no privacy unless one is totally off the grid.

Is it even possible to be totally off the grid?

Sure...make your own electricity w/solar panels (paid for in cash - everything) or if near running water, a small hydroelectric setup. Dig a well. Grow your own food, purify your own water. Hope you never get sick, and/or be your own "doctor" somehow and grow your own remedies but "medicine" would be rudimentary at best.

The thing is though, you can't remove yourself from public records, so I think it's "technically IMpossible" these days, despite doing everything I listed (plus some probably overlooked). Sure, there are spy satellites and drones and all that stuff, but they're not SUPPOSED to be able to spy on ourselves -- that much is hooey since we know the FVEY has been dong just that under Nobama for sure -- but why would government re-task a satellite to spy on a hermit in the mountains or whatever? They wouldn't bother.
