Apparently, New England Patriot’s quarterback Tom Brady’s popularity has nothing to do with his six Super Bowl rings and his 14 Pro Bowl picks; it has everything to do with a resurgence of white supremacy, according to University of Rhode Island (URI) professor Kyle Kusz.

According to Campus Reform, English professor Kusz dedicated a whole chapter to Tom Brady’s whiteness in his recent book, “The Palgrave Handbook of Masculinity and Sport,” in which he alleged that the quarterback gained popularity due to the “latest wave of white rage and white supremacy” that developed during the Obama presidency, culminating in the election of President Trump. At one point, Kusz even goes so far to claim that a 2015 Under Armour commercial featuring Brady would have been straight out of a Leni Reifenstahl propaganda film. Campus Reform provided further details of this bizarre theory:

The professor needs to rethink his conclusion.

“When all you have is a hammer…” It’s publish or perish, and all are trying to make a name for themselves, and to not be brutally assaulted for their views. In this case, the professor had something to prove and did so to his own satisfaction, and that of those who already agree, thus earning his progressive leftist paycheck.

He's a professor of kinesiology (look it up), which obviously qualifies him to write books on totally different subjects.

Perhaps he would have done better by explaining why a slightly deflated football was easier to grasp?

Yeah! I was going to write that Brady is not very popular in Indianapolis so the prof is wrong.

Brady is basically only popular among fans of the New England Patriots and frontrunners.

Brady's popularity couldn't possibly have a thing to do with winning, now could it?

Brady remains popular in Michigan having played well for UofM. He does a better job of firing up the team than Harbaugh, when he comes in for big games that Harbaugh can’t seem to win. I have to say Harbaugh is a changed man since he visited the Pope, & not in a good way if you’re a football coach getting paid millions. He even sounds like the last loser they had after they play poorly, ‘The guys practiced really well.’ Well, isn’t that special? He always takes them on world traveling trips, because........that’s important when you’re a college football player getting a free education. Agh.

If white supremacy is key to a QB's popularity, why do I see QB-related ads mostly featuring Pat Mahomes? (or Russell Wilson?)
