Donald Trump has long labeled CNN — easily the most biased and fundamentally dishonest news outlet since the days of Joseph Pulitzer — “fake news.” Now, the president is taking that case from the court of public opinion to a court of law.

In a demand letter sent to CNN on Wednesday, an attorney working for the president outlined his intention to sue CNN for its willful misrepresentation of itself. For years, CNN has told viewers, advertisers, and sources that it is an unbiased, straight news outfit. That’s a lie, and the president’s lawyers believe it actually violates the federal Lanham Act’s prohibitions on false and misleading advertising.

CNN routinely gets caught red-handed in one of its many bald-faced lies, its“journalism’” is often so obviously anti-Trump that it can’t be denied, and its “straight news” anchors consistently veer so clearly into the realm of opinion — always anti-Trump — but there has never been much recourse for the president aside from reminding the public of CNN’s blatant partisanship with the “fake news” label.

As obvious as the network’s bias is to any fair-minded observer, there was never any concrete legal evidence that CNN was actively lying to its viewers by presenting itself as a real news network when, in reality, its primary purpose has been to attack the president, and work surreptitiously with his Democratic opposition to undermine his presidency.

That’s no longer the case, however, thanks to new evidence from James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas, collected in a months-long undercover investigation. Now the whole world can see exactly how CNN executives are deliberately constructing the warped version of reality their network presents as “objective fact” every single day.

CNN staffers were caught on tape admitting that their network “is totally left-leaning” while pretending that’s not the case. The employees say it’s an unwritten rule that conservatives and even centrists are not welcome at CNN, that they are well aware of how biased anchors such as Don Lemon are, and that CNN President Jeffery Zucker has a “personal vendetta” against the president of the United States.

Video above helps make a good point, neither Sean or Jeanine misrepresented anything, they did not lie, never have they been caught red-handed in making up bald-faced lies and calling it news, including never have they pretended to be unbiased while going about fabricating lies, big difference!

To try to make a comparison between what went on at this Trump rally and what CNN does is far from getting at the truth.

Some may laugh at the attempt to bring liars to justice but it's far past time in this country to Bald-faced liars need to be called out and held accountable. This action against the fake media and their agenda is far past due...

If Donald Trump can ever get away with it, he will be a clear existential threat to the U.S. Constitution. Understand this, and understand this well, if Trump obtains the raw power to shut down a news organization, then he will also have the power to shut down any individual whose speech or writing he doesn’t like.

An absurd post. No one, including Trump is trying to do this. Your post is nothing but fearmongering

Welcome to O’Reilly’s “no spin zone.”

You are right though, Fox finally came clean. :Roflmao

Stephen Colbert mocks Fox News for dropping 'fair and balanced' motto: 'They finally watched themselves'

I have a feeling your crusade to bring liars to justice is going to be a one way street. Because ya know...only can stand to hear what fits your narrative.

Anyone who defends this action by Trump is also defending the next Democratic president taking the same action against Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and the whole sordid mess of right-wing talk radio.

Trump isn’t going to do anything, that claim is going nowhere in court. I doubt it ever gets filed. If it does it’s a cute story but ultimately a waste of time.

Such an attempted power grab by Trump should go nowhere other than the trash can if the Bill of Rights is still upheld in this country.

I dont know if it should be defended. All I have said is that it doesnt rise to the level you are claiming. By the way Obama already attacked the press and individual members of the press to include legal action

    1. Obama is no longer president.
    2. If he did so, then he was wrong to do so.

So? You seem to miss the point. You came across as if Trump was the first to do this or it is unprecedented from a President. I pointed out its not. Not sure how anyone who keeps up with the news was unaware of this.

    What Obama did was worse

    1. I was working when Obama was president.

    2. Now that I am retired I can keep up with daily events WAY more than when I was working.

    3. There are lots of apps and podcasts nowadays where one can catch up on the latest news and commentary. They seem to be multiplying like rabbits.

Can you link the Obama legal action? I wouldn’t mind reading that.

I couldn’t find any legal action just his exception in interviews to their attacks on him much like CNN and Trump. Nothing outrageous there. I don’t even care that Trump fires back at CNN. Nothing wrong with that.

Filing a suit would be dumb but I don’t really think he’ll actually do it. Probably just messing with CNN.
