Look at the definition and tell me if it fits....
    pan·dem·ic
    /panˈdemik/
    adjective
    adjective: pandemic
    1. (of a disease) prevalent over a whole country or the world.
We see it is spreading faster than anyone thought as now Iran has become another center of coronavirus.....

"Religious pilgrims, migrant workers, businessmen, soldiers and clerics all flow constantly across Iran’s frontiers, often crossing into countries with few border controls, weak and ineffective governments and fragile health systems.

Now, as it struggles to contain the spread of the coronavirus, Iran is also emerging as the second focal point after China for the spread of the disease. Cases in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates — even one in Canada — have all been traced to Iran, sending tremors of fear rippling out from Kabul to Beirut."... ‘Recipe for a Massive Viral Outbreak’: Iran Emerges as a Worldwide Threat

An Italian doctor staying at a resort in the Canary Islands has tested positive for the virus. New outbreaks in Europe, Asia and the Middle East are renewing fears of a coming global pandemic.

"Coronavirus live updates: WHO warns countries the virus will be ‘literally knocking at the door’

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned countries around the world must be ready for the fast-spreading coronavirus to be “literally knocking at the door.”

Speaking in Geneva, Switzerland on Tuesday, WHO spokesperson Christian Lindmeier reportedly said that while many countries had so-called “pandemic plans” on standby, the United Nations health agency does not plan to make a “big announcement.”

It comes amid intensifying concern about the coronavirus outbreak, with the deadly virus spreading to more than two dozen countries in recent weeks."...Coronavirus live updates: Iran's deputy health minister reportedly tests positive for virus

It absolutely won't. It might perhaps be described as metaphorically knocking at the door, but in fact it just comes in.

Isn't it hilarious how people will say "literally," when what they actually mean to say is "metaphorically?" ;)

The other "pet peeve" of mine is when people say "irregardless," when what they mean to say is "regardless." Lol

    But I digress. ;)

Common influenza infects and kills far more per year.
CDC estimates that influenza has resulted in between 9 million – 45 million illnesses, between 140,000 – 810,000 hospitalizations and between 12,000 – 61,000 deaths annually since 2010.

    Looks like its coming in....
" Can a coronavirus pandemic be stopped? Boom of global cases indicates 'horse is out of the barn.
...Although the World Health Organization as recently as Monday determined that the term pandemic
"did not fit the facts," some experts say it very soon could.

Dennis Carroll, director of the U.S. Agency for International Development's Global Health Security and Development Unit, credited China's "extraordinary control measures" with delaying the spread of the virus. But he said avoiding a pandemic is "very unlikely."

"The dramatic uptick of cases in South Korea, Iran and Italy are reflective of a self- sustaining spreading of the virus," Carroll told USA TODAY. "And a clear message the the horse is out of the barn."

Melissa Nolan, a medical doctor and professor of epidemiology at the University of South Carolina’s Arnold School of Public Health, also cited the new clusters in Iran, now facing at least 61 cases and 15 deaths, and Italy, with 270 cases.

"If we continue to see focalized local transmission in areas outside of China, the WHO will need to reconvene," Nolan told USA TODAY on Tuesday. "We are very close to seeing this virus becoming a pandemic."

Nolan said responses to the outbreaks in Iran and Italy could help health officials in other countries prepare their own medical and quarantine policies ahead of an outbreak. That is crucial, says Robert Glatter, an emergency physician at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital, who says the world is on the "cusp" of pandemic."

Maps the spreading virus. Italy upto 322 cases. People do recover from this. Dying from pneumonia which is how they die is not nice though.

Wow.."So it’s striking when one of the points he wanted to get exactly right was this: “I think the likely outcome is that it will ultimately not be containable.” Not good...

May God protect his elect in China, Iran and all other persecuted areas. May the unsaved see the hand of God upon his people who have suffered greatly for the faith.

Regarding irregardless (yes, pun intended), according to Merriam-Webster, it's listed as a word. In my view they have it as an entry reluctantly. It's primarily used in speech, not writing so much. It started in the early 20th century.
Think of the word inflammable. It means the same thing as flammable. It was first coined in 1605. But firefighters prefer using the words flammable and nonflammable so the public clearly knows the difference.

One of the strangest things I heard Elvis say at a concert before doing "Snowbird" was "May God bless America and parts of China."

It looks like its causing a shock wave as people realize the severity of this...
"CDC outlines pandemic planning, as fears send stocks plunging for second day..
Dow loses more than 800 points as stocks plunge for a second day
The stock rout continued as diving bond yields raised more concern that the global economy is slowing significantly because of the spreading coronavirus. The 10-year Treasury yield hit a record low as the Dow Jones Industrial Average added to Monday’s 1,000-point drop. Comments from health officials warning of a possible outbreak in the U.S. also spooked investors, causing a turnaround in stocks which had opened the day higher. The Dow dropped 879.44 points, or 3.1%, to 27,081.36 after being up more than 180 points at one point shortly after the open. The S&P 500 slid 3% to 3,128.21 while the Nasdaq Composite fell 2.8% to 8,965.61. Monday’s session was the market’s worst in two years. The S&P 500 posted back-to-back declines of at least 3% for the first time since November 2008 during the financial crisis, according to Bespoke Investment Group."

Since the prefix "ir" literally means "not," when a person says "irregardless," they are literally saying "not regardless."

Does the word "irregardless" exist in our English language (and, hence, in our English dictionaries)? Yes.

Are there times when using the term "irregardless" may actually be appropriate? Perhaps.

But do the vast majority of individuals use the word "irregardless" when they ought to be using the word "regardless" (given the context)? Definitely!

But in this "NIV" culture we currently live in, "irregardless" is simply how people talk today! ;)

Progress from Precaution to PANIC in a little village 10 miles from a town.

Sunday afternoon - 7 of us met for an informal service, Vicar (50+), vicar's teenage daughter, & 5 over 70s. Teenage was just back from skiing in Italy. No worries.

Tuesday - village children's club with primary & senior school children; no worries.

Wednesday - Precautions - Messy Church (children & parents) cancelled.
