No, Trump did not say in 15 days we would go back to working. Trump said that 15 days from now we would make a decision on which way to go.

They must go back to work soon, 15 days the decision about this will be made.
Advisors have warned the administration to expect an economic catastrophe if this is not changed.

    Rethinking the Coronavirus Shutdown
No society can safeguard public health for long at the cost of its economic health.

Financial markets paused their slide Thursday, but no one should think this rolling economic calamity is over.
If this government-ordered shutdown continues for much more than another week or two, the human cost of job losses and bankruptcies will exceed what most Americans imagine. This won’t be popular to read in some quarters, but federal and state officials need to start adjusting their anti-virus strategy now to avoid an economic recession that will dwarf the harm from 2008-2009.

Opinion | Rethinking the Coronavirus Shutdown

My view is this, they should do a lot more testing, but the 'shelter in place' orders should apply only for the elderly and the immune compromised or people with serious comorbidity issues. And let the world and society go on. At least 80% will have mild or no symptoms, supposedly...

AND as more people recover from this virus, you can not keep them locked down, healthy recovered people should be allowed to work and be free as they have become immune. Most people get better from this after 10 to 14 days. So all those tens of thousands will be fine after 10 to 14 days, if they are of that 80% or so, and that will shorten the duration of this virus because of the developed herd immunity effect in society.

And not only that, people will have gotten this virus, and recovered and never been tested, and some will never know they had it, and they are now immune and there is no reason to lock them down at all.

That would be an irresponsible attitude and very presumptuous.

Do you know what is worse than a global recession, job losses and business closures?

If you don’t take this virus seriously, you will be having global recession, job losses and business closures along with a large numbers of people dead (some of them young), a significant section of your best health care workers dead, seriously ill or traumatized by the war zone experience.

You need those people (even the older ones) to make a recovery after we have survived this fight with the virus. Considering them collateral damage in this war because your portfolios are suffering is so short sighted.

That may be. But you titled your thread "Trump says 15 days then go back to working" which is false and misinformation.

I just watched trump's press conference. He said specifically areas of the country will be opened up again for business at the end of this 15 day period

He has no basis for that. We can’t even test properly.

It is the right thing to do, and that is evident enough as to the massive disruption that will occur otherwise. And with the Chloroquine-Azithromycin looking to be working really well, people should be getting cured in one week not 2 weeks with less deaths and other things like lung scarring and other complications. It does feel like we are now knowing how to deal with this properly saving more lives and livelihoods together.

Not if the cure is more deadly than the disease. This is why I thank God Trump is in charge and guys like you are not.

Tucker interviewed a 70 year old Senator the other day (can't recall the name). The Senator was in the high risk category, but explained that while his generation wants to find a solution, they don't want it to be at the expense of harming their grandchildren.

Leaders need to avoid myopic thinking like this.

Edit: Correction it was Texas Lt. Government Dan Patrick. Very helpful interview. Check it out.

Some dude was just on the news talking about how shutting down the economy would be a health crisis as well.

If govt would just leave me alone, I will be fine. Those Morons throwing money around like its water are going to bankrupt the nation. They are definitely going to create stagflation. They are all acting like a bunch of knee jerk reactionary idiots.

If the value of cash drops, and it may, that means the value of what cash can buy goes higher, includes houses, stocks, business investments, your dollar just does not go as far. Fixed investment accounts, the interest earned drops even lower maybe. The stagflation of the 70's caused houses to go up a lot, but we also had much higher interest rates then and also price inflation caused the value of dollars to depreciate, who knows what will happen. With the countries massive debt levels, it can not afford an inflationary spiral.
