I found this article to be extremely helpful. I can see a lot of myself in this article, especially in the four months since my wife died.

“Recognize that you are a member of a species that’s always on the lookout for danger and that your predisposition toward the negative provides a market for purveyors of bad news. The negativity bias is deeply ingrained in our brains.”

I think that Libertarianism is very discouraging because it is very materialistic and carnal and totally ignores the human suffering that surround everyone.

Consider Flat Earthers, for example. They say that social distancing has pushed a lot of them over the edge.

I am by nature a pretty optimistic sort of a guy. However, my wife accuses me of being pessimistic. The big difference is that I am optimistic concerning 90% of life, BUT very pessimistic concerning this nation and it's direction. I think my pessimism re: America started with the 60s, and, except for brief intervals, this pessimism has reigned.
Like I say tho' in most of the rest of life I AM optimistic!!

    PERFECT PEACE IN HIM!!!!

    Positive plus negative equals reality.

“if we go to war to win, we will surely win. Yet there will be death and destruction on both sides.”
A positive and a negative explaining a reality.

for most people the negative isn’t as painful to take away or diminish the reward of the positive so its often discarded or not considered in the here and now or the future.

like today in the US the traditional view is, as long as they’re getting a paycheck and or their business isn’t getting burned or filing for bankruptcy all is well. “It’ll never happen in the US.”...no negative equals no reality.

The “it’ll be okay, this will all pass” attitude is killing the republic.yes, God is Sovereign, but how do you know that you haven’t been placed here and now for such a time as this?
the reality is , our ship is not only taking on water, she’s listing.

That’s why we’re to practice social distancing—not really do it.

I'm here on the Coast Guard rescue team. All the people who fall out of the boat, I will direct to the captain! He will save whom He wills. I just am called to point them to the Savior who can reconcile them and redeem them.
