Another look at the War for Southern Independence

The article is very accurate. The new narrative of the war "was about slavery" is a complete lie. Saying the American Civil war was about slavery is as dishonest as saying the American Revolution was about a tea tax.

The slaves were purchased from their captors in Africa. The captors were largely the opposing tribe. As far as I'm concerned, if you want to stop an industry, attack it's supply. Before attacking people here stateside they should instead go to Africa and deal with it there.
The importation of slaves into the US was outlawed in 1807, but smugglers continued to bring some in for a good while.
That is correct, but the need for the importation of slaves no long existed by that time. Slaves were having children at a rate that made buying slaves from Africa unnecessary. Even thought the importation of slaves was banned, children born to slaves were still considered property.
So from what has been said here I gather that the war was fought basically for economic reasons, not about treating other human beings decently. (Hey, they weren't considered human back then, were they?)
Which brings up another question; the major events of our time, are they basically for economic reasons with side issues thrown in to make the stragglers pick sides?
