CHICAGO, IL—Local churchgoer Casey Martino is frantically thumbing through his Bible, desperately looking for that one verse where Jesus commands his followers to "always be on the right side of history."

Listen-- I could have sworn it was in here," said Martino after a frustrating afternoon of searching. "Something like: 'Thou shalt always be really polite to your neighbor, and always be on the right side of history.' That's a paraphrase, I think, but it went something like that."

According to theologians, Casey isn't alone. Recent studies have shown that 83% of American Christians actually define Christianity as "a belief in being on the right side of history at all times."

"History is always right!" said Martino, throwing his hands up. "There is literally no other way to determine morality except to loosely predict what people 100 years from now will write about your beliefs in their history books! Right? Jesus said that somewhere, right?"

HaHa, It is just a concept in thinking. Verses do talk about the right hand and the left hand.
The understanding is the right hand is the good side, the right side to be on. Handedness throughout history, left-handedness was associated with darker and more evil things, and the right handedness good, desirable and having authority. I myself am lefthanded, but also ambidextrous, but favor my left hand.
    1. But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

Here we see those on His right hand are blessed of My Father, and those on His left hand cursed to hell fire.
So it is desirable of course to be on the 'right' side, not the left side..
The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations
31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

When I first learned how to study the bible, I would try to find things "I knew" were in there somewhere. But alas, I usually found something sorta like what I had "learned." For example, rather than being on the right side of History, our objective is to on the right side of God's will. So we can be on the wrong side of history written by the fallen, but on the right side of history written by God.

Most 'Christians' today in America are on the 'right side of history'. But history can be twisted. Most Christians support the 'American myth of history'.

Bring up race, slavery, the War Between the States, if you don't agree to the American twisting of these, you are anathema. A wolf in sheep's clothing. Your posts are edited or deleted. You are banned. Not because you disagree with the Bible and history. Because you disagree with 'Americas myth of the Bible and history'.

Jesus was seen by most of His contemporaries as anything but being on the right side of history. Of course, He was (and is) the right side of history.

    This should settle it:

I often wondered why it is that Conservatives are called
the "right" and Liberals are called the "left.

By chance, I stumbled upon this verse in the Bible:

"The heart of the wise inclines to the right,

but the heart of the fool to the left." Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV).

    Thus sayeth the Lord. Amen.

Can't get any simpler than that.

Thanks for that I had not remembered it, but now I do!
With your right hand serve justice openly and clear to all, while what your left hand does is hidden from sight and of treachery.

The upshot is not to be missed, for it is just the sort of conclusion a vast number unthinkingly reach.

After failing to find it after hours of searching in the Bible, Martino finally concluded the Bible must be outdated. He then congratulated himself for being on the right side of history.

    Proverbs 6:16-19

There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

    2 Timothy 3:1-5

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

    1 Timothy 6:3-5

If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
