    Mississippi also completely open.

As far as economically here In VA here, I never noticed much impact on myself except for wearing a mask and at the first having to stand in lines outside stores such as Home Depot due to the capacity constraint.
Lots of restaurants were closed, but we did not normally eat out much anyway.

Texas should never have been shutdown. Abbott will answer for that at some point.

Abbott did what he could. I support him. Trump never should have bowed to any of the Covid bs either. But at the time the information or lack of, and popular opinion was against them.

Texas will reopen and the rest of the country will whine and cry and bemoan how we are just infecting the world. I can hear it now. Probably there will be a demand for anyone from Texas to have proof of vaccine or shots or something to leave the State. The U.S. will most likely create some form of sanctions for such a rebellious state.

The critics are complain about what Texas and Mississippi -did.
But I would say that a store could still have its own policy of requiring shoppers to wear a mask.!

Seeing how many people in those states dont want to wear a mask, that will hurt their business. If I lived there and had a choice of stores, I would go somewhere else rather than shop at the store requiring a mask.

I did not realize Texas had a mandatory mask mandate.

It doesn't matter. If the Law of the State is you don't have to wear a mask, there will be no enforcement to have people arrested or charged for not wearing a mask.

If you as a business wants to push it...go ahead. Maybe you won't let them in your store. But you won't get them in trouble with the law. You will just lose the business. And of course, that is the good thing about capitalism. Plenty of others out there to offer their business to you.

I fully agree, that a person can not be held liable to the law for no mask!
I'm just saying that a store could require it - just like - no shirt, no shoes.

Stores are wanting and needing business at this time. Even when we were under the mask rule, there were plenty of people in the stores who would not wear them. And no one was sending them out. In other words, it was not going to be enforced even then.

Add AZ, & shocker.....CT. My folks used to live in New Canaan CT, beautiful area, however the snobbery there was worse than a high school clique. It was amusing.

Governors of States willing to defy the Federal govt. States willing to exercise their authority for their people concerning COVID.

Wait till new gun laws start coming down the pike.

Remember the Federal 55 mile/ hour speed limit?

Well, actually there never was a federal speed limit.
It was a federal blackmail speed enforcement.

When Montana raised its speed limit the feds told them no more federal highway funds.
If I remember correctly - if a person was stopped for speeding - they were given a ticket for
wasting gas - which meant no traffic points or (I suppose) not reported to insurance companies.

Joe could do the same thing with these States/commonwealths about the mask issue.

He has my support, as well. But I still believe he will pay a political price for the shutdown.

A lot of conservatives are really upset with the shutdown, and are now former supporters. Their apathy or opposition could cost him the election.
