Would one had been allowed as a juror who wore a shirt glorifing the KKK?

 

The defense probably should've used one of its challenges to keep that fellow off the jury, except they almost certainly didn't know that backstory. Not much can be done about a member of the jury pool being less than transparent about biases, unfortunately. And it took all 12 to convict.

 

More likely conviction is overturned and a new trial will be ordered.

HGTV had a black couple & their kid on one of their new shows last night. Throughout the show, in different scenes, all three wore a black t-shirt that said ‘I MATTER’. Does anyone here think a white person could wear a shirt that had All Lives Matter on it? The reverse discrimination runs rampant everywhere on tv, with commercials leading the way. I am sick to death of being pummeled with the leftist agenda. It is the new normal, but it is not normal. The left wants us to accept their version of normal by their constant onslaught. All it does is foment racial divide. It unites no one, but they will say they are all about unity. Big lie.

 

Brandon here sure isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. is he? And he's probably one of the more intelligent people on that jury.

No way about it, they're going to order a new trial. That last one was a Soviet-style political show trial, some "trial". Second degree murder, what a railroad.

 

Well, it’s nice to know one juror wanted to do their due diligence. Too bad it was only one.

36 years ago I was an alternate juror for a notorious (for northern Maine) murder trial. The entire process too 7 days, 2 days getting the jury seated, 4 days of testimony, then final statements by prosecution/defense and jury deliberations. As no jurors were dismissed I was not part of the deliberations, but chatted with a couple jurors shortly after the verdict was rendered. They said that the foreman called for a vote as soon as all were seated in the jury room and the vote was 6-6. After an hour of deliberations a 2nd vote was 11-1 for conviction and with another hour-plus the guilty vote was unanimous. Not sure whether this sheds any light on the Chauvin trial deliberations, only that moving to a verdict was a gradual process - though relatively short in this case.
(And because we 14 - there were 2 alternates - had worked for those 7 days, the judge gave us the option of being released from the jury pool. A couple retirees with nothing better to do stayed on but the rest of us said, "Thank you" and were done.)
