Derek Chauvin's Attorney Files Motion For New Trial

The filing comes after a report emerged that stated Brandon Mitchell, a 31-year old juror who started speaking publicly to the media after the trial was over, wore a shirt that said “BLM” and “Get Your Knees Off Our Necks” last summer in Washington, D.C. The filing, however, did not mention Mitchell, so it’s unclear whether it even relates to him or not.

Standard procedure for seeking an appeal.

Aaron, do you have a shrine of Derek Chauvin on your mantel? You seem obsessed with proving him innocent.

Just want to make sure gets a fair trial, as that did not seem to happen first time around!

And the BLM folks will probably demand that Al Sharpton be the presiding judge at any retrial.

That is what the defense is claiming. We will see what the judge decides. I suspect the judge dismisses the motion, but that sets up an appeal by the defense.

What I don't understand is why anyone would think Chauvin is a good guy who is innocent of misbehavior. The man had a long list of inappropriate behavior. It's shocking he was still on the force.

Rather ironic given the way Floyd was made iconic, don’t you think? :Wink

Are you obsessed with him being guilty?

Have I started even one thread on the trial or the after trial?

Not saying that he was not guilty of something, but that there was no due process!

No, but I do have a Trump bobble head.

Floyd was not a victim. He died of natural causes: causes natural to his lifestyle and the actions he took. The trial was a sham.

    And that is my crusade.

    It was a show trial.
Every cop should be wary of the current politics of mob justice taking over the judiciary today, and act appropriately.
Some cities are now saying cops should not be persuing suspects, no police pursuits, they should be allowed to flee.

You know in San Francisco, shoplifters can steal, as in walk out up to around $950 worth of goods on store shelves and the police or store security can not do anything to stop them by their law. So this Floyd incident, in San Francisco, Floyd could not have been arrested.

When Chauvin was found guilty - he stood up, placed his hands behind his back - allowed the deputy to handcuff him and then peacefully
accompanied the deputy to the destination.

Now, if Floyd had done the same thing - this trial never would ever have happened.

I answered the question with my question. The answer to my question answers your question.

Why do you assume that is what is being argued? What is being argued is that he is not ultimately responsible for Floyd's death and most certainly did not commit murder.

A so-called answer like that means one of two things

    1) you are a politician
    2) your are a lawyer.

So I guess the answer is that you do not want to answer the question

translation - you did not answer the question

    I blame Adam...

Sigh, was there any reason for Chauvin to be kneeling on Floyd's back when Floyd couldn't breathe?

    No

Chauvin had an opportunity to argue his case. The jury ruled against him. People on this board need to get over it. This foolish conspiracy theory makes people here look like racists.

And we already know the jury wasn't exactly unbiased based on recent revelations. It is obvious he did not get a fair trial.

And the question is not whether there was reason for him to do what he did. That is not the right question. The question is whether he murdered George Floyd. The evidence says no. An intimidated and biased jury convicted.

Here we go, it's the same old thing. Feign devotion to pacify the resistance to the perversion of justice when it's the Leftists doing it.

I accepted the legitimacy of Trump's election in 2016. I rejected the Russian conspiracy theory of the left. I now accept the legitimacy of Biden's election in 2020 and I reject the conspiracy theory of the right.

God is accomplishing exactly what He wants.
