Good to see people standing for their convictions. I only hope the Reserves actually complete processing in time for him to resign without retirement.

I realize he's only giving up $600 to $800 a month starting when he turns 60, but that's still a good commitment (especially with the medical benefits he and his family will be forfeiting).

    Whacha mean, buttercup?

I'm commending the guy for standing on his principles and hoping he's isn't just talking the talk.

He listed vaccine politics and Afghanistan as a reason to resign from the Reserves before retirement.

    Good for him.

    Whatcha mean Snowflake??

I am saying it is good for a man to stand for his convictions and I hope he is sincere.

Do you think people should not stand for their convictions?

Do you hope he is faking it?

If not, then why do you find my post so astounding in a bad way???

Too many times people are willing to take a stand as long as it does not mean actually taking a stand. It is refreshing to see somebody actually stand for something without it being an empty act.

I completely agree with him about Afghanistan, BTW. Being a retired vet I get tired of politicians using the military as political pawns.

I take it you never served, that is the only reason I can think of why you'd dismiss this man's actions so quickly. Or you served and are ashamed of the military.

After 19 years of service it is not a minor statement to resign. Shame on you for thinking otherwise.

To be fair....I don't care too much. Everybody needs to follow their convictions BUT....I just wanted to agree with @Revmitchell 's post to see how many hypocritical responses I'd get.

No. Like I said, I like that the man stands by his convictions.

The OP left out the part about Afghanistan which I believe is more important than objecting to having to take a vaccine (the military already mandates over 15 vaccines for service members....complaining about mandating one more is a bit silly).

The OP also did not mention the fact that the military has mandated vaccines for decades (over 15 vaccines are mandated).

But I do not care so much about the man's decision.

If he resigned because the military added one more vaccine to tge already over 15 mandated vaccines then the guy is foolish.

But he didn't resign simply because the DOD added an FDA approved vaccine.

I do not understand why he did not resign over Benghazi and existing vaccine mandates, but sometimes convictions evolve over time. That said, there is a possibility his resignation is politically motivated (not saying it is, but giving the timing and the fact the officer has submitted to mandated vaccines in the past, and politicians have made stupid military decisions in the past, the possibility has to be considered).

That said, I also posted to see if there were any members who would troll me - who would call me out when I agreed with the OP.

That essentially proves a couple of people (you and @Wingman68 ) post negatively to my post - not because of my position but because I posted.

Consider it a legitimate post with additional motives.

Non-contribution? You post a story about one military member who happens to share your conspiracy-theory mindset. I could easily find one military member who believes Elvis is alive and well and living in Memphis.

Methinks thou dost protest too much.

Why? I mean, reading the letter I get the same impression (the leave status) but some things in the letter seem to point to it making more a political statement than a resignation letter.

Of course it's making a political statement, but political statements aren't unique to active or part timers.

I mean using a bit more sensationalism than normal.

The officer had already received over 15 mandated vaccines. And Afghanistan was far from the only military debacle to come out of the WH over the past 19 years.

It just seems more political than principled.

Did he ever say specifically state why he did not want the shot.
Religious -, not trusting the shot???-
    Lets get the whole story.

    For example From this link
it states "On average, 47% of people who die in car accidents weren’t wearing their seatbelts."
Then wouldn't that mean that 53% who die - WERE wearing a seatbelt. Why doesn't the media give us that stat?

and likewise IS it the same for the Chinese virus shot?

If it were for those reasons he would not have to get the shots. But keep in mind he already was subjected to over 15 manditory vaccinations.

Since 100 minus 47 is 53, I'm not sure why media would need to highlight that fact. However, the link should have included the ratio of belted/unbelted among all drivers/passengers. Without that context the numbers tell us little about the efficacy of seat belts. If the belted proportion is 53%, then belted/unbelted makes no difference in fatalities. If it's 80% then being unbelted makes one 3.5 times as likely to be killed as being belted.
Back on topic: Trying to assign motives for the man's decision is probably fruitless without more info (preferably from him) on why he took the action.
Edit: Should've read the link. Seems like the vaccine edict was merely the last straw in his disagreement with the directions he sees in the military and politics. And publicizing the act in the Twitter universe (by his wife) makes it a political act.
