Supply and demand, thus –> no supply = more demand = more inflation.

Where are we headed here? Are you suspicious about this? Are these shortages purposely geared to drive up inflation? If so, why would they want to do that, who would do it, what would they benefit?

I’ve definitely noticed a lot of things being surprisingly out-of-stock, a lot of brands seem to have disappeared and it has been difficult to buy parts and this all seems to be getting worse.

I don’t know what’s going on with the cargo ship bottleneck but a large part of the unloading being in California makes wonder if some of their regulations or restrictions might be the cause of it.

Sometimes they say it is a problem unloading at the port.

Sometimes they say it is a shortage of truckers to move it out.

Sometimes they add to this and say its due to the pandemic causing a major inventory shortage and we can expect higher prices because of that.

What do you think is behind it?

It seems like all the political focus (distraction?) is on the vaccine while this pandemic is likely to be pretty much over in a year but in the meantime, where is our supply chain and thus inflation headed, and to what extent?

I think it's all of that combined, and I think inflation is here to stay. My family and I have been storing up supplies for over a decade because it's far too easy to see just how fragile the supply system all is. For example, most of our garlic comes from China. 1 hiccough on a ship and no more garlic (unless you grow your own ;)). 1 power outage, or winter storm and the local grocery store is entirely empty.

The pandemic is a stress test of the supply chain, and it's obvious that the supply chain can't cope with it.

    Here is what I understand

California enacted draconian diesel emissions standards in which very few semis can pass that are older than 3 yrs old. Imagine that

so, there are thousands of semis which cannot enter the state of Cali to ease the situation

a reserve logistics group from the US Air Force has been sent to start working on these issues

again, my understanding. If I am wrong please let me know

Welcome to the "BRAVE NEW WORLD" of liberal policy enactment!
IMHO, less than 5% of the supply problems are due to the bug - the other 95% are due to liberal "safety measures"!!!!
Don't remember any other pandemic that so affected every-day life anywhere near the extent that the Chinese Virus has.
What are the three key elements in todays problems? CONTROL, CONTROL, CONTROL!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Seriously, I'm hearing that while our supply chain crumbles our Secretary of Transporatation is on maternity leave?!

    Comical, not funny, but comical...

I also hear that California is not accepting the truckers as independent contractors, trying to declare them as employees and trying to make them join unions.

I would be surprised if California wasn't the major cause in some way or another and that doesn't put much hope in getting the problem solved anytime soon. California chaos spreading across the country.
I wonder if its part of a plan of trying to destabilize the economy using the pandemic for an excuse whereby they can further advance and cover up for the advancing Socialist Progressive Movement, like they used this handy tool, the pandemic to manipulate the laws before a carrying out a massive attack on our voting system to allow for them to cheat their way into being our new rulers.

    DING, DING, DING!!!

Give the man a gold watch for his accurate appraisal ! ! ! :Laugh:Thumbsup:Thumbsup:Laugh

The worst part is some who, intentionally or not, are furthering this agenda with their attitudes toward the "V"; falling right in step with the dems!

    You are correct.
Our fleet of tractors have about an extra750 lbs of equipment on the engines that are controls on the engines to regulate emissions
We carry a letter saying so to be legal.
normal weight on the steering axle is 12000, on our tractors we are at12750.

Arizona State Senator, Wendy Rogers, calls it out today:

"The government of California is a national security crisis and threatens our entire supply chain."

Psaki is saying that inflation is a good thing and both her and SOT Butteggegg are trying to say the cargo bottleneck is a positive sign that economy is so good and people have such increased income and are spending so much money that the goods can't come in fast enough.

You can't make this stuff up...

And yet they make this stuff up constantly. :Wink

But yes, they make stuff up to such a degree that making stuff up about them making stuff up has become a challenge. Witness "The Bee" and "Not the Bee."
