Delta infections, by comparison, caused elevated pulse rates, resulted in low oxygen levels and a loss of smell and taste, she said.

    The poster may be meaning Beta. There have been several variants that have arisen but never gained traction enough to make a splash in the history of COVID-19, other than some mentions in various news reports.
