Why Is Russian Spoken In Ukraine?

Because many thousands or millions of Russians, or pro-Russians live in the Ukraine. And the Ukraine probably did once belong to Russia. Like the USA did to England, which is why you guys speak a kind of "English"

USA. A break from the English should have been made complete. I would have preferred French as the National language since they helped us to break away from England. My Celtic brethren in Wales are teaching Welsh and indeed there many families who would rather speak that language vs English which is nothing more than an amalgamation of other language anyway. The more you can encourage a distinct language (in schools, in churches, at home with family etc) the more distinct you will be.

There are many reasons that my ancestors ran away from Britain … mostly to make a better life for themselves. Neither my Welsh family or my wife’s Scottish families consider English a credible culture to emulate. Another poster on BB (whose name I won’t mention) told us how bad Christianity has become in England (I would like to know more why this is happening). I suspect it’s part economic, part socialism… but mostly no Holy Ghost visitations. Sad state of affairs. Didn’t the years of Cromwell and WW2 with Churchill teach the English anything?!?

Being a sovereign country takes years to establish… look at the history of the USA and look at the history of my beloved Poland for examples. Both of us fought for distinct cultures, for religious freedoms against tyranny. In Poland the factory workers and the farmers claimed solidarity and in Poland the church supported those endeavors.
Will the Ukrainian people unite as a one country consensus against Russia… I believe with Gods help anything is possible.

George Whitfield was largely responsible not the Puritans who like other non conformists to Anglicanism (otherwise known as English Catholicism) felt the urgent need to escape from England (even Cromwell was making plans to leave the country). It was both Whitfield and John Wesley who made great efforts to evangelize. Neither Puritans or Pilgrims made that effort. Baptists also contributed as well as others like the Friends/Quakers who were persecuted in England. I’d give Puritans high marks for Oliver Cromwell and his breaking up the English monarchy and Parliamentarian corruption but that only lasted 5 years. Now don’t tell me you are blaming the Celts for your Pagan problems! The Welsh were always church goers… I should say chapel because the Anglicans wouldn’t allow for anything but their assemblies to be called “church.” The Scots were mostly Presbyterian and the Irish mostly Catholics. Maybe you are referring to the Irish, since you are not specific. But here is what you should understand…. They all don’t like you. Sure you could purchase land, estates etc but that doesn’t bring acceptance and a warm bosomy feelings towards you since you will always remain usurpers … Sais and English is always the language of the landlords and dare I say it… the bastardized race. French at least is a romanized, brilliantly constructed language… one where English still uses many words.
