I had a co-worker who’s 40 something daughter did the same thing. If you focus on the spinning brushes it can give an optical illusion that makes people think they are going to hit the walls. They panic, hit the brakes and the conveyor belt keeps moving. She just got turned sideways and did several thousand dollars worth of damage to the car and the car wash.

Look at the dashboard during the wash.

peace to you

Maybe thats why at many carwashes - it drives on a belt - so the individual is not in the vehicle.

I remember driving a Dodge work van. The break and accelerator were very little and very close, with a small floorboard.

I was wearing work boots and when I parked couldn't get my foot off the gas (I was pressing the break and gas, inching slowly towards a fence). Ended up turning the ignition off.

I feel for the guy.

Unclear just what happened in this case, but after paying, the elderly guy broke through the gate and seems to have never found the brake pedal.

Yeah, I feel for the guy too. Doubtless a harrowing experience, then being stuck for some 90 minutes.
