Colorado River

Being native to Western Colorado and spending most of my recreation time on the Colorado River, I can tell you that she has her ups and downs. Right now she's not looking good. But, provided they quit sucking more and more water from her, she'll come back strong. Just gotta respect her and give her space and time. Crazy talking about a river like that, but if you saw the stuff I used to do on the river...I really know of no river that is as beautiful and personable as her. I grew up playing on her.

Lake Mead is holding less than 30% of its design capacity, with its water level at least 50 feet below where it should be. The Colorado River water basin snow pack is about 50% above normal, so some replenishment on the supply side has occurred in the past few months.

I have a dream Mr. Musk would do a feasibility study of bringing water from the Lake Superior area to Lake Powell and also of bringing water from the Mississippi River water basin to Lake Mead. Perhaps his deep tunnel idea might provide the impetus. And of course the down side. such as possibly causing water shortages east of the Rockies, or causing invasive species invasions of the west.

Well, the folks in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan would blow up if you touched the water of Lake Superior. This past year the Mississippi River was at its lowest flow in decades, causing barge traffic to stop. So...good luck with pumping water to the dessert.
The aquafer in the heartland is dropping faster than it can be replenished, which will lead to drastic changes in food production when the water is gone.
These are all consequences of human disrespect of earth.

Remember this post the next time you read of flooding in the Mississippi River water basin. :)
The barges were stopped because of a lack of dredging, not a lack of well channeled water.
While it is possible humanity might be contributing to global warming, if nature decides to bring on an ice age, it will happen in-spite of our many fossil fuel vehicles.

The flooding is mitigated by dams. Each pool is maintained and the locks allow barges to move up or down the pools. The convergence of the Missouri river and Ohio river can bring flooding to that region. That is nature and really cannot be mitigated except by building higher levees. The Corp of Engineers is continually dredging the Mississippi river so the channels are there.

I read the article where someone argues for a pumping system from Louisiana to Lake Mead as a means of replenishing the water. Another means of replenishing is to stop the water fountains and golfing in the desert. Cover the reservoirs with a tarp of some kind so that the vast waste of water by evaporation is mitigated. That means all the recreation on those fake lakes is removed. But the players in the Southwest don't want to give up their way of exploiting the land, so they think they should take from others to feed themselves.

As for climate change...God is working his judgment via the seals for the book of destiny (Revelation 5 and Revelation 6) right before our eyes and humanity refuses to acknowledge God, just as Revelation 9 says.

Folks, just about the same about of water on the earth when it was created, is still on the earth now. Drought and flood are distribution issues, too little or too much. Our environment produces fresh water from evaporation near the equator and then drops it near the earth's poles or when the moist laden air meets air too cold for the humidity. Some of this fresh water drains down through Canada and drains into the Great Lakes. Additionally cold air from the north sometimes pours across the USA bringing snow, ice and rain as it runs into humid air from the south. This is collected by the Mississippi River valley and drains into the gulf.

Is there enough excess water from these flows to help supply the western USA? Perhaps not, and some claim without much study, but someone like Mr. Musk and his team might find otherwise. The concept should be studied and either put to rest or pursued.

Why do some posters just copy and paste? I can think of several reasons!

Because they don't have a dog in the fight. Let's talk about water management. You know, like restricting the casinos in Vegas from using water from the Colorado river to feed their magnificent "water art" or whatever it is you want to call the fountains. I dunno. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they don't get the water from there. No idea where they would get it. The wells over there started drying up in the late 70's.

Here's my proposal for Van.
Pump salt water from the Pacific Ocean, just south of San Diego. Build a desalination plant in Phoenix and remove the salt. Then use the water.
