What is a Baptist?

Hello,

I am here looking for both the accepted definition of a Baptist as well as this forums definition. I listed myself as a Baptist on joining because I believe in Baptism after coming to Christ by full immersion. I do not know many things. I want to learn. I do not consider denominations Biblical:

"For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?" 1 Corinthians 3:4 KJV

But if I am wrong that is fine. I do not consider myself of the Baptist denomination as I do not go to a church that calls itself Baptist.

I think I probably doctrinally am a Baptist and think God has consistently lead me to Baptist material.

I opened it up to check it out, I am not wanting to spend a lot of time on things that maybe are less valuable than learning to grow in grace and God, but have been interested in the Baptist history since it seemed to me in the past that I could trace no origin to it like most denominations to the reformation, and being introduced to some more reformed stuff lately could be useful to know. Would most agree with the book or any notable parts that some have a different view of history on? As it appeared a book about history of denominations?

I am of the persuasion (as a Baptist) the New Testament documents are the sole Apostolic authority to the churches today.

I'm just asking if those acquainted with history would agree with the book you posted?
Not everyone.
Here on the BB we have a whole forum on the topic, Baptist History

AnaBaptists can be traced to the 4tb century by way of the "Catholic Church" which can be traced to the 3rd centurv.

The New Testament documents can be traced to the 1st century. Which all forms of Christianity are dependant upon.

Ya, I just wanted to confirm that was okay before I started posting too much on the Baptist only forums, thank you.
