Losers of the Day: CPAC and the American Conservative Union

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has had more than a few controversies over the year. But inviting Milo Yiannopoulos to speak at this year's conference is an embarrassment to the sponsoring organization, the American Conservative Union, and actually does damage to the conservative movement.

    The guy is no conservative.

"alt-Right" is as far as I got.

When that term of disparagment that the left invented is used, whoever is using it loses all credibility.

    Not worth reading any further.

Milo is basically an expert-level troll. I honestly don't know if he even believes what he says. The guy claims to be a gay Catholic, to boot--and that makes zero sense to me.

It's no more ridiculous that a gay person claiming to be a Christian, is it?

Actually, it is, in a sense. Some liberal Protestant denominations are affirming. Catholicism is definitely not. It's as ridiculous as claiming to be a gay fundamental Baptist, though.

For someone that claims to be all about facts, you have a way of ignoring facts that you don't like. Alt-Right or Alternative Right is the name they gave themselves. From Breitbart "The media empire of the modern-day alternative right coalesced around Richard Spencer during his editorship of Taki’sMagazine. In 2010, Spencer founded AlternativeRight.com, which would become a center of alt-right thought." http://www.breitbart.com/tech/2016/03/29/an-establishment-conservatives-guide-to-the-alt-right/\

Note the name of the website that Richard Spencer founded is "AlternativeRight" or alt-right.
If you go to Alternativeright.com the very top of the screen will say "AltRight.
So refusing to read something because it uses the correct title for a movement out there is really ridiculous for someone who wants to be informed,. So when someone refuses to acknowledge simple facts like the true origin of a name/label they lose all credibility.

Ah, but the left co-opted the term and apply it to anyone that supports a Trump presidency. It's just an alternative way to call them racists.

So it is now nothing more than a leftist prejorative. And that's the way it is used right here on BB. All the trump haters love to use it.

There is an intro video about him that I understand is intended for CPAC. I will not link to it because of the content, but it is easily-viewable if one has a twitter account. In it, he disparages Jews and advocates pedophelia. Unbelievable.

Video surfaces of Milo Yiannopoulos defending pedophilia

“We get hung up on this sort of child abuse stuff,” Yiannopoulos is heard saying in a video, acknowledging that he has a controversial point of view, “to the point where we are heavily policing consensual adults.”

“In the homosexual world, particularly, some of those relationships between younger boys and older men — the sort of ‘coming of age’ relationship — those relationships in which those older men help those young boys discover who they are and give them security and safety and provide them with love and a reliable, sort of rock, where they can’t speak to their parents,” he added.

So I wonder if Carpro will make the connection between Yiannopolus and Steve Bannon?

    (Hint: Breitbart.)

CPAC has rescinded its invitation to Milo, but it never should have been offered in the first place.

Milo is not a believer regardless of his title. That said, who cares? This is political government not Church government. Reagan famously embraced his gay supporters and did so very wisely. Christians can join arms with unbelievers in matters of national policy, in fact Christians can be a great testimony in this regard. We may not agree with your lifestyle, but we believe you have the right to life and will defend that right.

This is what Glenn Beck (a mormon) and many of the legalistic "Christians" on this board don't understand. Christianity transcends government.

    Some instructive words from Paul:

1Cor. 5:9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person.

1Cor. 5:12 For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? 13 But those who are outside God judges. Therefore “put away from yourselves the evil person.”

Milo isn't problematic because he's gay. I don't care about that at all.

    He's problematic because he's a massive jerk.
