Wrong sir. We are Christ's church. The house is the building. Reference Psalm 122:
"I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord."

Why didn't you "just worry about yourself" as you previously stated? You contradict yourself.

Your church does not have the problem. Many churches don't, but many churches do. Rules for acceptable behavior and how to implement thin is pretty much what this thread revolves around.

LOL! Salty, that brings back an old memory. When I first took over as Senior Pastor of our church in San Diego, on the first Sunday, I walked into the foyer and the Head Deacon introduced me to a woman, about 275 pounds, in a very tight halter top, short (and I mean SHORT) shorts and shower thongs. Nothing else. He said, "Meet your Sunday School Superintendent.":eek:

As the service progressed and I got up to preach this woman and her 13 year old daughter (only about 250 pounds but similarly dressed), sitting on the front row, pulled out a McDonalds bag and proceeded to have a Big Mac and order of fries. That didn't bother me near as much as when their Cokes got low and the straws started sucking air.

Ah yes. Those were the days. :D:D:D

So, now that you brought it up, I just have to know how you handled it.

As gently and patiently as possible. It was obvious the previous pastor had failed to instill in them (along with the rest of the congregation) how important it is to respect God's house.

She was divorced and living on welfare. Her ex-husband was in prison for murder. Life had been difficult for her. A little compassion and understanding go a long way.

We enrolled her daughter in our Christian school and my wife very patiently and gently taught her about proper attire for a Christian young lady.

18 years later her older daughter's husband retired from the Navy and they invited mom, who's health was deteriorating, and now living alone, to come live with them in Virginia.

We had a fellowship potluck to see her off and when she got up to give a testimony she told the story of how we first met. She said now, looking back on it, she wonders why I did not just turn around and walk out. We all had a good laugh about it. Most people want to do right, if you just give them the chance. :)

T.C. I really enjoyed your post and the final solution but in all honesty during your sermon, how much longsuffering did you have to endure?... Brother Glen:Biggrin

As I told my ordination council, if I wanted patients I would have gone into medicine. :D:D:D

But not God's house. There's no sanctuary in those buildings we've erected, either

TC - are you sure that really happened - Saved 41199 says it does not - so what is the real story?

I find the auditorium to be a place of refuge from the hustle and bustle of the world outside. A place of quiet rest. :)

Post them in the church bulletin, post them on the church website. If you really have people who do those sorts of things, then you're going to have to "train" the people to do the right thing. However, I really do not believe any of these stories...I've taken an informal poll among friends regarding this and the "worst" thing anyone could come up with was someone nursing her infant during the service (and she was covered up).

You really don't want to insinuate that a Moderator and an Administrator are liars. Trust me on this.

I have no need to have discussions with zomeone who calls me a liar.

Sounds to me like a case of, "Well, you're presenting arguments I can't refute, so I'm just going to call them extreme examples and insinuate that everybody's lying." Somebody doesn't like being proven wrong?

I still disagree. Our body is the temple (of the Holy Spirit) we (believers) are the church, and the house is the church building. I can provide Scripture if you'd like, but I'm sure you know that already.
