I disagree and I must state this:

    No,
Scripture does not say that it is believing a lie when you don't believe that Jesus Christ died for you...
Scripture says that it is believing a lie when you don't believe that there is eternal life in Jesus Christ.

    That said,
I wish you well, sir, and may He bless you with much knowledge and grace.

God has given His gift to the whole world but
the gift only becomes effectual when the recipient receives it.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
    but have everlasting life.
    John 3:16

But as many as received him,
to them gave he the power to become the sons of God,
even to them that believe on his name:
    John 1:12

When you recover the original Autographs, we can all learn Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic and read them for ourselves. Until then there is a HUGE difference between a Translation of the book of Romans and a Commentary by Calvin or Gills on the book of Romans.

In many small ways (like overusing the word "hell" when translating "sheol"), but not in this case. The KJV/AV is perfectly fine in the verses Dave quoted.

How does anyone learn anything without any teachings of man on any topic, let along Aramaic, Hebrew or Greek.

" He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:
13 which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. "
    ( John 1:10-13 ).

MB, you know that I exclusively use the AV...
I would never say that it is wrong.

What is the witness that is in him? Is it not, Christ in you the hope of glory? How did that witness get in him? Was it poured into him? Is it not the Spirit of Truth? Is that why a believer is, a believer because he has had the Truth put in him?
