According to Calvinism, God takes pleasure in tormenting people for all eternity with hellfire because it gives Him glory. According to other theological systems, God hates having to do this because the very people whom He in His justice must punish with eternal hellfire, for their refusal to believe on Christ, are people that He loves.

Does God delight in burning people in Hell?

Nope. Ezekiel 33:11 As I live!’ declares the Lord God, ‘I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live.

I wonder if you can supply a quote from a Calvinist saying that God delights in tormenting people for all eternity? I am a Calvinist and I certainly don't believe that.
I also wonder if you can provide a Bible quotation which says that God loves the people in hell?

God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked. The death of the wicked is justified and God is a just God. Therefore justice indeed glorifies God.
    *Ezekiel 33:10-13*
“And you, son of man, say to the house of Israel, Thus have you said: ‘Surely our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and we rot away because of them. How then can we live?’ Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel? “And you, son of man, say to your people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him when he transgresses, and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall by it when he turns from his wickedness, and the righteous shall not be able to live by his righteousness when he sins. Though I say to the righteous that he shall surely live, yet if he trusts in his righteousness and does injustice, none of his righteous deeds shall be remembered, but in his injustice that he has done he shall die.

    *Ezekiel 34:11-24*
“For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land. And I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the ravines, and in all the inhabited places of the country. I will feed them with good pasture, and on the mountain heights of Israel shall be their grazing land. There they shall lie down in good grazing land, and on rich pasture they shall feed on the mountains of Israel. I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them in justice. “As for you, my flock, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I judge between sheep and sheep, between rams and male goats. Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture, that you must tread down with your feet the rest of your pasture; and to drink of clear water, that you must muddy the rest of the water with your feet? And must my sheep eat what you have trodden with your feet, and drink what you have muddied with your feet? “Therefore, thus says the Lord God to them: Behold, I, I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep. Because you push with side and shoulder, and thrust at all the weak with your horns, till you have scattered them abroad, I will rescue my flock; they shall no longer be a prey. And I will judge between sheep and sheep. And I will set up over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he shall feed them: he shall feed them and be their shepherd. And I, the Lord, will be their God, and my servant David shall be prince among them. I am the Lord; I have spoken.

Some deranged person could say yes, for example when people sin, and other deranged people could say no. Unless scripture provides the answer, speculation is simply that.

Martin can you provide one that says He does not?

And it was the calvinist God’s pleasure to choose who would be saved and who would be condemned and all this before time began thus it is based upon nothing the person does or does not do. Thus calvinist election is unconditional. And it is the God of calvinism’s pleasure to send most of the world to hell! And this as we are constantly told by calvinists is for His glory. How doing so brings glory to Him is just one of those mysteries that calvinist always claim.

But that view of God does not fit well with what the bible tells us about God.

    1Jn 4:8 God is love

Ezekiel 33:11 He does not take pleasure in the sinners death

1 Timothy 2:3-4 He desires all to be saved

1Jn 2:2 Christs was the sacrifice for all

Sure does not match up with the calvinist view of God now does it.

God doesn't delight in the death of the wicked, but He isn't saddened by it. Neither are the righteous.

The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. - Psalm 58:10

Ezekiel 9 must really make you angry, but for all who bow to God, his justice is our salvation.

    *Ezekiel 9:1-11*
Then he cried in my ears with a loud voice, saying, “Bring near the executioners of the city, each with his destroying weapon in his hand.” And behold, six men came from the direction of the upper gate, which faces north, each with his weapon for slaughter in his hand, and with them was a man clothed in linen, with a writing case at his waist. And they went in and stood beside the bronze altar. Now the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub on which it rested to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the writing case at his waist. And the Lord said to him, “Pass through the city, through Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in it.” And to the others he said in my hearing, “Pass through the city after him, and strike. Your eye shall not spare, and you shall show no pity. Kill old men outright, young men and maidens, little children and women, but touch no one on whom is the mark. And begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the house. Then he said to them, “Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out.” So they went out and struck in the city. And while they were striking, and I was left alone, I fell upon my face, and cried, “Ah, Lord God! Will you destroy all the remnant of Israel in the outpouring of your wrath on Jerusalem?” Then he said to me, “The guilt of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great. The land is full of blood, and the city full of injustice. For they say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see.’ As for me, my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity; I will bring their deeds upon their heads.” And behold, the man clothed in linen, with the writing case at his waist, brought back word, saying, “I have done as you commanded me.”

Does not what? Love all the people in hell? Certainly I can, and so could you if you knew your Bible. Try Psalms 5:4-6 for starters, and then Revelation 6:14-17. It is your god who doesn't love anyone enough to save him from hell.
I know you get your knickers in a twist when I tell you that you don't understand Calvinism, but you don't; you don't have a clue! I excuse @Guido because he's quite a new Christian, but you have no such excuse. It really is a pain to keep on catering to your ignorance.
I praise God every day for unconditional election. There is no hope for anyone without it (Psalms 14:2-3; 1 Corinthians 2:14). If there is one solitary person in heaven on the Last Day, it will mean that God is merciful as well as just. But in fact there will be a vast crowd there, so great that no man can number it, so where do you get off with your arrogance numbering the crowd and finding it too small? 'As for God, His way is perfect (Psalms 18:30). Who are you to criticize Him (Romans 9:18-21)?
It fits exactly with what the Bible tells us about God.
Amen! And your point is? He loved me enough to save me; did He love you that much?
Amen! And your point is? Does a judge take pleasure when he condemns a criminal to death or to life imprisonment?
And your point is? If you take that to mean every single person who ever lived, how does that work out for your faux arminianism in the light of Psalms 115:3? Not well, I think
In 1 John 2:2 (NIV), Christ is the atoning sacrifice for the whole world. If Christ has atoned for every single person in the whole world, then every single person in the whole world is saved. Is that what you believe, or do you have to add on to the Scripture to shoehorn your mistaken doctrines into it?
Your faux arminianism certainly does not match up to the Calvinist view of God, but the Bible does. :)

Where exactly does Calvinism say that. I don't doubt some hyper somewhere said it, but where in Calvinism do you find it?

Isaiah 63:3, ". . . I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. . . ."

Psalms 68:23, ". . . That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies, . . ."

Revelation 14:20, ". . . And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs. . . ."

Revelation 19:13, ". . . And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. . . ."

Revelation 19:15, ". . . And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. . . ."

Martin please spare us your self-righteous indignation. Of course God hates sin and those that refuse to trust in His son will suffer His wrath. But you do overlook the fact God does not take pleasure in their death. Question for you Martin, do you love your children even when they choose to disobey you or do you just hate them?

I do find what you say to be rather funny. Your version of God only loves a small group, which you think your part of, and the rest He condemns to hell just because He can. Remember this was all decided before time began. Actually your comment "But in fact there will be a vast crowd there, so great that no man can number it" disproves your calvinist view. Calvinism has always been a small part of Christianity so they would not make up a vast numberless crowd.

I can ask you the same question, "Who are you to criticize Him"? You expect to act like a calvinist.

Martin you have to hope that you are part of that group that was pre-chosen as according to your calvinist view you did not even believe in Christ Jesus. God had to give you that faith so you would believe. You just have to hope that what you think is your faith does not just disappear like a morning mist. You have your theology from some man not the bible
    Loraine Boettner
"A man is not saved because he believes in Christ, he believes in Christ because he is saved.

    The bible
    Eph 1:13 In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit;

Which one do you think people should believe, Boettner or the Bible?

In 1 John 2:2 (NIV), Christ is the atoning sacrifice for the whole world. If Christ has atoned for every single person in the whole world, then every single person in the whole world is saved. Martin for someone that says they teach the bible you do seem to miss a lot. So your saying that the Holy Spirit {God} does not know what they are speaking about?
So you think He got this wrong also
1Ti 2:3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
1Ti 2:4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

    And what about this
Joh 3:14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
Joh 3:15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
Joh 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Joh 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Joh 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

And if you reject all the above then you sure do not accept this
Joh 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

You say you believe the bible but what you keep posting it seems you believe what people tell you they think the bible says.

From heaven’s perspective, those who break God’s Law are vile and worthy of all loathing. They are a wretched lot, justly exposed to divine vengeance, and rightly devoted to eternal destruction. It is not an exaggeration to say that the last thing that the accursed sinner should and will hear when he takes his first step into hell is all of creation standing to its feet and applauding God because He has rid the earth of him. Such is the vileness of those who break God’s law, and such is the disdain of the holy towards the unholy. (Paul Washer, "The Cross of Christ," HeartCry Magazine)

Most of your post is just the same old rubbish that I've answered over and over again. I'll just deal with a couple of bits that I can't remember dealing with before.
I don't send my children to hell. That's God's job. But Psalms 5:4-6 is in the Bible whether you like it or not. Deal with it.
No. It disproves YOUR Calvinist view.
    1. Do you really believe that I think only Calvinists go to heaven? Shame on you! I have never said anything like that, and indeed have called for peace between Calvinists and Arminians on this very board. But you are not an Arminian, are you?
    2. When have the majority counted for anything with God? If the majority were always right we would all be Roman Catholics.

The rest I have dealt with many times before. If there is really anything you would like me to answer, of course I will do so, but endless repetition becomes boring for writer and reader alike.

However, I am encouraged by your remark that you only became aware of the C vs A debate around 3 years ago. There is hope for you yet! I was reading a biography today of Abraham Booth who was a leading English Particular Baptist at the close of the 18th Century, and author of the famous work, The Reign of Grace. I was interested to learn that in his youth he was an Arminian and strongly opposed to the Doctrines of Grace. Eventually, he was brought to see the truth and wrote the following:

The doctrine of sovereign, distinguishing grace, as commonly and justly stated by Calvinists, it must be acknowledged, is too generally [opposed]. This the writer of these pages knows by experience to his grief and shame. Through the ignorance of his mind, the pride of his heart, and the prejudice of his education, he, in his younger years, often opposed it with much warmth, though with no small weakness; but after an impartial enquiry, and many prayers, he found reason to alter his judgement; he found it to be the doctrine of the Bible, and a dictate of the unerring Spirit. Thus patronized, he received the once obnoxious sentiment, under a full conviction of its being a divine truth.' [Abraham Booth, Memoir. Works 1:xxi]

I shall be praying for the same enlightening for you.:)

Amen! However, that does not say that God delights in sending sinners to hell, only that they deserve it. As I asked you before, is a judge delighted when he sentences a criminal to death or to life imprisonment? Of course not. But he is glad that justice has been done.
