Which is why he should follow the Billy Graham rule… never be alone with a woman not your wife (or a female relative)
The defense then is very clear to all. The man has never been alone with a woman not his wife for the specific purpose of never suffering such a false accusation that brings harm to the cause of Christ.
Peace to you
I had a 30-year career in the Army. I never closed my door while counseling a female soldier.
The Mohler amendment did not address sexual assault. It focused on theology and church leadership. I've seen a lot of people calling themselves Baptists and Christians whose conduct about this amendment is not Christ like at all. Much of the speech against it is hateful and twisting scripture to condemn it by those who opposed it.
First of all, the opposition is neglecting the Biblical requirements to be a pastor and a deacon. There's not one single instance where the Bible says women qualify to be either. However opponents are twisting scripture and the roles of women in the Bible to falsely say the Bible does include them.
"This
is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop,
he desires a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the
husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; 3 not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; 4 one who rules
his own house well, having
his children in submission with all reverence 5 (for if a
man does not know how to rule
his own house, how will
he take care of the church of God?); 6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride
he fall into the
same condemnation as the devil. 7 Moreover
he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil." 1Timothy 3:1-7 (NKJ)
"11 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression." 1 Timothy 2: 11-14
I've seen comments online twisting 1 Timothy 3:2 to mean Paul should not have been an apostle because he wasn't married, when what it means is he should not be a polygamist.
I read an article online where someone with the title of Reverend claimed Mary Magdalene was the first to preach the Resurrection. This serves only to prove women can be used in the ministry but not pastors or deacon/elders. Was the woman at the well a pastor? The "reverend" who wrote the article claims she was because she went and told others of her encounter with Jesus. He claimed Mary was because she was used to give birth to Jesus.
Who really is responsible for these opponents to the amendment misquoting the Bible and being hateful? Satan, of course.
Pastors, deacons, and elders are leaders of the church. Women are not to be leaders in the church. One only has to look at what happened to the Episcopal, Presbyterian, United Methodist churches and United Church of Christ to see what happens when women are allowed to be leaders in a church. Each of those now allow homosexuals to be pastors.
