Several times on the board you have advocated that criminals (and even people who have commited no crime) be beat with a cane.

I seem to recall your describing flesh being ripped and so on.

How would you go about undoing such a punishment if it were later found that the vicitm of your inhuman punishment turned out not to be guilty?

[SIZE=+0]No unjust sentence can be undone. As to being inhuman God calls for stoning, and a whip and a rod (club) so you need to talk to Him about your higher then His standards.
If it is proven that the conviction came because there was criminal activity or even willful prosecutorial neglect on the part of the police, prosecutor, or judge then they should have to serve the sentence that was given to the innocent party.
Also in all such cases the innocent victim should be monetarily compensated for their wrongfull conviction. I think that a fair amount would be 200,000 for each year they spent plus any loses they incurred because of being falsely sentenced.

I went back and looked and you are correct there is no mention of usuing a whip, but a rod is what is specified so caning would fall under that as caning is not a whip but a switch or rod.

Then please give the chapter and verse that states that the government is to beat those who break the law (and according to you even those who do not break the law) with a rod.

Are these the verses that you think support your advocation of the government beating people with rods/clubs?

If so then you seem to be saying that the government should raise our children.

Pro. 13:24
Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.

22:15
Foolishness [is] bound in the heart of a child; [but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

23:13,14
Withhold not correction from the child: for [if] thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

29:15
The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame.

I am saying that the Sripture that you cite does not talk about the GOVERNMENT beating anyone.

Why do you change God's Word by changing it to government?

I have not changed it. If you look at my first reply I did not suggest God was saying anything. You asked for scriptural reference where God points to such things. I stand on what I originally stated as it would be a good deterrent to bad behavior.
Do you stand against the Rod which God calls for?

I asked you, "Please provide the chapter and verse that calls for the govenment to inflict whipping as a punishment."

So are you or are you not saying that Scripture calls for the government to inflict beatings with a rod as a deterrent against crime?

If so cite the chapter and verse because what you have provided so far does not say that.

Otherwise you are changing Scripture and I would hate for that sin to be visited upon the next three generations of your family.

The fact that the word "government" is not used has nothing to do with it. The passage is dealing with the structure of government. However you want to interpret it the question remains.

Here is the Scripture that you cited:

Pro. 22:15 Foolishness [is] bound in the heart of a child; [but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Pro. 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame.

This is concerning parents raising their children.

Where do get the government out of this Scripture?

When it is by a parent with a child within the context of Scripture I agree with with God's Word.

But you are ripping it out of context and are distorting and twisting and perverting the Scriputures.

Show where those verses are talking about GOVERNMENT beating people for offenses of the law or repent of your Scripture twisting ways.

The Jews have consistently interpreted the text as maximum permitted punishments, not required punishments. It is only fanatical Christians who demand that smart mouthed children be executed by stoning.

The Jews cannot even understand their own scriptures so as to recognize their own Messiah so I would not put too much stock in what a Jew believes. Just believe what is written.
