Does 2 Peter 1:21 refer to the Preacher's sermon? I heard that the Holy Spirit spoke through the preacher as he preaches in the pulpit. Please give me other scriptures that refer to the Holy Spirit speaking through a preacher's sermon. Does 2 Peter 1:21 refer to the "inspiration" of preachers? Please correct me if I am wrong.

No, it does not refer to inspiration of preachers. The verse is past tense. It is talking about either the prophets (OT) or writers of Scripture. I would say the prophets, although most of the OT writers were prophets. It is definitely not talking about preachers nowadays.

    Hope that helps! [IMG]

Definitely the context is referring to the reception of scripture. Not the preaching of a preacher. If that were true then we wouldn't need our Bibles.

Surely it's talking about prophecy, which can include preaching; I don't see how it says it's talking about Scripture

It Must refer to the Scriptures. The Bible (in context and adding scripture to scripture) always defines itself.

"The Prophesy" in verse 21 clearly is the "prophecy of the scripture."

Isn't it sad that some preachers are so egotistical that they actually believe they are "inspired" when they preach?

Some might be deluded, some misguided, others discontent with how slowly God is building His kingdom so they are working at building their own.

Some preachers preached wrongly. Does this mean that the Holy Spirit spoke wrongly through him? Remember that the Holy Spirit can't lie, mistate, and vaguely reply. Does this mean that He is not perfect if he spoke wrongly through the preacher as preacher preaches in the puplit? On other hand, did God wrongly inspire any preachers as they wrongly preached? Many people said "his sermon is great" after his wrong preaching is done, the reason for this is that most people listen MORE than read the Bible. I caught a preacher's wrong preaching many times because I read the Bible and know the Word of God and understand his preaching disagreed with the Word of God.

How do you know that you're right and he's wrong?

This is eteresting, because it seems to me that if you can find a precher to stay in the word of God then you have a church that is led by the Holy ghost, and not by a man who claims to be inspired by God!Only insperation we have is the Word of God ! Nothing but the Blood can save us not some inspired preacher that claims he has the truth because he is in the spirit. What spirit would be my question? My Bible teaches me that the writters are speaking with devine athority.the Words are inpired by God Himself.1st Cor.2'7-16 Jesus Christ has the final say anything els is a bunch of of babaling nouse. We need to try the spirit, and be very carefull who is in control of our Churches!WE truely are in the last days, and the devil is out to get us!I believe that we need to bar satan from the house of God before every service.Pasters need to Pray that the Holy Spirit take controll of the preaching, and to not go left nor rite out of the sripture,My question is what Bible should we be useing?

In the context, Peter mentioned the transfiguration of Christ. Peter witnessed that glory. But rather than rely on a personal experience, Peter went on to say the Word of God given through divine penmen was more sure. He is referring to divine revelation given through holy men of God.
