Why was the location of the burial important? Because a Sabbath day is coming on. They had to get the body of Jesus down off the stake and the work of burial finished before sundown when the Sabbath began. There is no slack in here. I have included all this information to establish that Jesus’ body went into the tomb in the last moments before the sun went down, beginning the Sabbath day.

So our question is, was this late on Friday, just before the Sabbath, or late on Wednesday, just before the festival Sabbath? The latter of these alternatives would give us our three days and three nights.

When we see the reference to "THESE" things in Luke 24 it is a direct and explicit reference to "THESE" things JUST mentioned.

So WHAT was just mentioned BY the speakers saying "THESE THINGS" in Luke 24.

Let's read "sola scriptura" and not add anything to what THEY say "these things" are.

Christ said He suffered "THESE things".

The two discisples said THESE things are simply that the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to the sentence of death, and crucified.

No reference to Christ "suffering being taken down from the cross" no mention of THIS thing in their own list. No metion of Christ laid in the tomb or "Suffering bieng laid in the tomb". No mention of having the stone and seal place over on the tomb or of Christ "suffering caused by that act". No mention of anything but the trials that delivered him to the Romans AND the act of crucifying the living Christ.

Of course if we are free to "make stuff up" no matter what the chapter says and insert them into the definition of "these things suffered by Christ" then we can move this all around.

    But we can not.

    In Christ,

    Bob

Pizza, if you really want your question addressed, read the following article (especially about half way down, about Jesus raising Lazarus)

AND take the time to listen to: Three Days and Three Nights. On this tape, he goes into EXACTLY YOUR POINT.

Download both onto your computer, if you care.

Why are you so afraid of Three days and Three nights.

I would think a good Christian like you would relish the word of God instead of fighting against His truth --- that He was to be dead for Three days and Three nights.

Why fight Christ by keeping human traditions of 2 nights and one day. This human tradition makes a mockery of Jesus' plain words.

Let's break from the chain of lies taught to our fathers and passed on to us, and start a new day of Truth about Jesus' death and resurrection.
