I believe george, that God eguipped David and the evidence of that is his being a youth and his small size compared to the giant. The Spirit of God makes no mistakes, nothing does He do by happenchance.Originally posted by georgeS:
Well, this is my first post, so it will be right in the middle of the fire. The 5 stones means nothing. Why are we assigning code and numerology or something to Gods word? David could have just as well picked up one stone and "maybe" completed the job. If you go out with the goal of winning 2 people to Christ, do you just take 2 tracks with you? No, David knew he had a job to do and he equipped himself to do the job. It was not a lack of faith on his part.
The very air you breath is provided by the LORD just as He provided the 5 stones in the brook He provided. That word "five" isn't there as just a historical account, but for the reason of God. I would really hate to know I thought so little of the Word of God to limit it to only a book of the history of a bunch of dead kings and their plunders, but that would be the fault of naturaleyes, for the things of the Spirit are spiritually discerned/ seen.
You mention the "middle" of the fire, kinda reminds me of 3 Hebrew young men; Meshach, Shadrach, and Abednego, but mostly that 4th man in the fire, likened unto the Son of God walking within that firey furnace, or is it just my imagination? NO! It's the Word of God! John 1:1 The Word. Wonder if grace had anything to do with that? Hmmmm?
