My point, Priscilla Ann, is that fallibility is an irrelevant issue since we all fall into that same category.

An infallible book that noone can interprut infallibly. That is an even better point. God gave us his truth. We just can't figure out what it is. He can have men write infallible scripture through the Holy Spirit, but he cannot have anyone interprut it infallibly through the Holy Spirit. That's my point. These men mentioned Protestants look to as Shepherds is my point. "I will give you shepherds after my own heart who will give you KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING". Jer 3:15. Do you suppose these shepherds should be giving out KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING should be able to interprut God's words correctly? That's my point.

More instructive is the whishy-washy position that SDA takes on the issue of birth control.

It seems that sin and right or wrong on moral issues is simply a matter of consensus with the SDA rather that an absolute.

Are you trying to imply that the Republican party is anti-abortion? Think again. Start doing some research on some of the Republican candidates (to include some of the Bush family)..they are for choice. Choice is a vote for abortion.

I personally do not vote party. I vote candidate, I don't care who they are aligned with as long as they hold to pro-life (not pro-choice) stances.

You might wanna take the finger outta your eye...SDA doesn't have a very good track record about abortion....shall we talk about this:

The General Conference of SDA's president announced to the press, "that although we walk the fence we lean TOWARD abortions" because of the problems of world overpopulation.

This is an older quote...what does the SDA president say today?

Christians who condone artificial birth control are engaging in objectively grave sin irregardless of whether they themselves are culpable of sin due to their lack of knowledge. This is a situation that must be remedied.

Preventing pregnancy by abstaining from relations or by having a permanent procedure (vasectomy) is NOT sin. There is NO scripture to support your stance!
(I am NOT including birth control pills or IUD type contraceptives in that remark as those cause abortions.)

We've had the quiverfull discussion in the women's forum. A quiver is a 'small' pouch

that holds only a few arrows and is not indicative of a family having 14 children when Dad can only afford to feed 3.

Which returns us to the point I made to Priscilla Ann: fallibility is an irrelevant factor. Pointing out the fact of one's fallibility has no bearing upon the dialogue, for all members partake in this same disease.

Carson, the problem here is that our non-catholic brothers adhere to a continually changing interpretation of the unchanging Word.

That others, even the predecessors of their own particular denomination, historically held a belief that contraception is sinful means little if anything.

It comes down to personally interpretting the Bible, while denying that personal desires, and personal convenience, and temptation towards sin have any influence on that interpretation.

I have heard the arguement concerning how many children can one afford used in support of abortion too.

This arguement of affording children is made by people living in the middle class of the wealthiest nation on earth.

Interestingly enough, when people had less wealth, say 100 years ago, affordablity of children wasn't a deciding factor in the right or wrong of contraception or abortion.

Now Adam and Eve could fill the earth by themselves so we know this to be a command to all men and women. Of course this command was also mentioned to Noah and Abraham and a couple others and it is to YOU. Now if after the second child Eve said, Adam, I don't like this birth stuff and the second one killed his brother, could you get snipped. Do you suppose God would have said, no problem Adam. Psalm 127 tells us that all children are a blessing. "blessed the man whose quiver is full" and yet people today say only 2 are a blessing. We don't need any more of God's blessings. I have heard it said that children are our opportunity to live the beatitudes. I think this is very true.
