Not quite true. The Triangle Shirtwaist Company was in violation of several safety standards, of the day. The problem, as so often is, was enforcement.

Anyways, the 1920's thank you. After the depression, when orginized crime took over the Longshoreman's Unions, it's been nothing but corruption, extortion, intimidation, nepotism, cronyism, and murder.

I don't understand how anyone can wish you a happy _____ day where 150 people died. Makes no sense to me.

The labor movement of the first half of the 20th century helped create conditions that allowed this country to thrive and be a beacon to others about how to advance by treating all people with dignity and respect. I, for one, am thankful for the honest work done by the unions on behalf of the underclass workers who needed a voice.

Hey, with labor goons...those are acceptable losses.

We are dealing with the mindset of "the ends justify the means: especially when my salary is involved."

> The Triangle fire didn't happen until 1911. There were labor reforms long before that.

True, but prior to the fire the owners hired private police armies who killed union organizers with the tacit approval of local government. Read the history of Rockefeller, Carnegie, and Frick. "Meet You In Hell . . . ." is a good read.
