Katie I liked it, I think it shows a good preception of both women.

There is a play on words here, but the meanings are very different. "A strong woman" is referring to a woman strong in and of herself, physically and mentally. But understanding that the word 'of' has, as one of its meanings, the implication of 'belonging to', then a woman OF strength is a woman with faith in God, who is her strength. Thus, the difference as I see it in what Katie posted is the difference between a woman who trusts in herself and a woman who trusts in God.

It was an interesting post, Katie. Good for some self-examination!

    Good post,Katie.

A great reminder that our strength is in Christ! I pray I can be a woman of God's strength, not my own.

The poem reminded me of Jesus's words when he said:

    Matthew 5:3-12
3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Sorry folks for editing and deleting on this thread. I only cut the excess and left the clean lean meat. Thanks for your kind understanding... and oh yes, it is an interesting topic. Personally I chose the woman of strength (which comes from the Lord) any time! [IMG]

Thanks, Barnabas! As both a Christian and former moderator of this forum, allow me to remind the folks here that our job as Christians and sisters and brothers in Christ is to build up and support one another. We all get enough of the 'other stuff' from the rest of the world. And if you have teens, you might get it from them, too!

    God bless you all... [IMG]

It IS a lovely poem, isn't it? We should all strive to be a Woman who is strong in God our Father!
