I'm with you. What ever happened to the preaching of the Word of God in a context of biblical music. Much that passes for worship, preaching and music today is an affront to the holy God of heaven.

It's still there, it's just in the Traditional Service.

Traditional - "Thus sayeth the Lord."
Classical - "Thus say-ay-ay-ay-ay-eth, thus say-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-eth the Lord, thus say-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-eth the Lord!" (in true Handel-ian fashion)
Contemporary - "The Lord says this."
Sports-Emphasis - "This is what the Lord says. Take it from me, I'm Howard Cosell."

Sorry... it's a joke, not the way I really feel, nor am I making fun of anyone or their views.

Truth is, at my church we have a blended style of worship, incorporating hymns, gospel songs and contemporary songs for a well-rounded service. Everyone seems to be very happy, and I'm pleased to be a part.

In His Grip,

I think I understand what you are trying to say and I agree.

I understand about the lyrics be in accordance with scripture. But could you explain what you mean about biblical music. If what you mean is loud clanging cymbals I can just imagine what some would think of that.

Our Pastor has addressed this issue to the congregation. He equates it to a Burger King mentality... who's slogan is "Have it your way". We're more of an In & Out Burger kind of church..."Quality you can taste".

I know, it as been terrible for about 50 years. But you think this is bad, so should have seen the first 1300 years of the church before they wrote all those hymns set to contempory classical music. They were like, "when will God bless us with that Biblical music of the future that was promised"??? Sad times my friends. Sad times.
