There are a couple of anecdotal examples given in the article but otherwise there is no proof that masses of people are giving up looking for work because the recovery isn't as robust as they anticipated. This idea that " Obama's recovery is tepid so I'm quitting looking for work" is ludicrous. I speak as someone who believes the recovery is flaccid and as no fan of Obama.

The article cites the decline in the worker participation rate as if that were proof that people are giving up on looking for work, when the reality is that 10,000 people a day are retiring.

I don't read CNN or MSNBC. Besides, as several posters have pointed out to me any news source is legitimate so long as it backs up your point of view, even Tass.

And on that note just about every news source out there is reporting this. And they all, as well as most folks with common sense, understand that if you dropped of the unemployment list and are not currently working then you have dropped out of the work force.

Why are people going back to school, retiring early etc. Because of the lack of jobs.

So unless you just want to spin things in Obama's favor then the facts are clear.
