Images of Baal and the moon god are seen everywhere. They are no longer confined to their temples, you can go to the store and buy images of these ancient gods. Click link to view images of these gods still around.

    http://www.helpingmormons.org/occult_symbols.htm

Do you have them in your home? They are pasted all over a famous restaraunts play center. How many times do you see them a day and not even realize what you are seeing?

I saw the section on egg shaped windows. Does that mean that when I buy eggs I am supporting the ancient pagan gods?!?

Joe Smith was kicked out of the Masons. He used a lot of their rites and practices in the temple services of the Mormon temple. He was also a full blown megalomaniac, a womanizer, a heretic, etc.,etc.,etc...

Those 'pagan images' are basically renderings of things God created but misused by these false religions. Some worship cats. Some worship rocks. Some worship cows. Some worship men. Oh, and those ancient god's you're so worried about.... dead, all dead!

Having a butterfly cast out of iron in your garden is not worshiping some pagan god. Having a plastic frog or owl in that same garden is just as harmless.

We need to stop looking for the 'devil on every doorknob' and get down to the business of leading the lost to Christ. This stuff isn't worth our time or concern. Scripture seems to speak so loudly to this concern....

Walls, I'm sorry you were mocked here. There is a legitimate concern where all this is concerned. From what I can see, the concern is not that we might worship these things. We don't. But the entire attitude of not only our culture but of the Christian church itself is one of increasing 'tolerance' and even acceptance of symbols of paganism, demons, and witchcraft -- all of which symbolize rebellion against God.

It has NOTHING to do with buying eggs or putting butterflies in the garden. And that particular website maybe went a little far in a couple of areas, but the fact remains that the line between loving God and rebelling against God is getting blurred where many are concerned. Casual attitudes about things which should be raising warning flags is not a good thing.

There is no reason to be paranoid about many things involved, but to be aware of it is right and good. One does not have to be paranoid to be discerning.

It's amazing what one can find if they look. However, you're showing us what the mormon temple looks like. The use of various symbols put together in a building used by a cult is much different than someone using a design that resembles something that can be used by others as a satanic symbol. While I'd look cross-eyed at a Christian who decorated his home in pentagrams and sunstones, I've seen many who unknowingly have a sunstone ornament in their homes on a clock, or in a garden, and have no clue of what some people believe them to be.
Walls, you seem fascinated with pagan gods, occult symbols, and other things that have virtually no bearing on us Christians. We do not worship false gods or purposefully put up satanic symbols or give honor to them, so why the obsession? Nobody's dishonoring God by using their birthname, making an appointment for February 2nd, or by drinking a coca cola. It's hard enough to get Christians just to tell people about Jesus. Perhaps if everyone had heard the gospel and was living relatively perfect lives we would be justified in worrying about whether or not we were inadvertantly doing something that would be considered wrong if we were doing it for another reason. As for me, I've got enough things really wrong with me to work on than to hunt through my home for things that might somehow resemble something some dead person used hundreds of years ago to resemble a false god that I never heard of. I'm just not getting ANY conviction that that's something God thinks should be even a fleeting thought right now.

What parts of it went too far? I'm not familiar enough with most of that stuff anymore to be able to discern it. That site has been around a while and I remember being shocked by it a few years ago, when I wasn't too keen on believing that mormons were a cult.

I was at Walmarat not to long ago and they had Shower curtains with these sun faces and moon faces, then I go to the Dollar store and happen to see these same images on a stick for a yard ornament. Then we were at a family gathering and the persons house had this chemnea and the same sun face was on it.

Several weeks later, I am checking things on the internet because I have some family members that are into the occult and lo and behold I see that those sun images represents Baal. I never had a clue. I was shocked. The Bible says my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.

When you have family that is involved with the occult and you don't want to see them hold hands with the devil, you might check things out.

Those sun and moon faces have given me the shivers ever since I was old enough to remember seeing them, but I do see a lot of Christians that have them as decorations and have no clue what they are. (I was shocked the first time I saw one in the LDS temple!) They've become so commonplace now I don't think they hold any meaning though, except to the few groups who use them to symbolize something they shouldn't.

Isn't it sad that what God created as "good", man is calling evil. It may be USED by evil (like the crescent moon for the Islamic demon Allah) but that does not make the moon evil.

Get a grip and don't look for a demon behind every bush (or Bush).

You are right Walls. Our society is shot through with the symbols of our pagan roots.

Take out a dollar bill from your wallet and look on the back!

Or how about the days of the week and their names which honor false gods (I've brought this to our attention before) :

    Sunday - Sun day.
    Monday - Moon day.
    Tuesday - Zeus day.
    Wednesday - Woden's day.
    Thursday - Thor's day
    Friday - Friden's day.

But what shall we do walls?

Wait and Watch as He said.

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

Scripture says: Jeremiah 10: 5 "Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field are they, And they cannot speak; They must be carried, Because they cannot walk! Do not fear them, For they can do no harm, Nor can they do any good."

    http://bible1.crosswalk.com/Dictionaries/BakersEvangelicalDictionary/bed.cgi?number=T361

Instead of being concerned about certain images that for a time represented certain pagan gods, today we idolize big homes, fancy degrees, large vehicles, golf clubs made of titanium, diamond rings, prestige in the community ...

Jeremiah 10:1 Hear the word which the LORD speaks to you, O house of Israel. 2 Thus says the LORD, " Do not learn the way of the nations, And do not be terrified by the signs of the heavens Although the nations are terrified by them; 3 For the customs of the peoples are delusion; Because it is wood cut from the forest, The work of the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool. 4 "They decorate {it} with silver and with gold; They fasten it with nails and with hammers So that it will not totter. 5 "Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field are they, And they cannot speak; They must be carried, Because they cannot walk! Do not fear them, For they can do no harm, Nor can they do any good." 6 There is none like You, O LORD; You are great, and great is Your name in might. 7 Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? Indeed it is Your due! For among all the wise men of the nations And in all their kingdoms, There is none like You. 8 But they are altogether stupid and foolish {In their} discipline of delusion--their idol is wood! 9 Beaten silver is brought from Tarshish, And gold from Uphaz, The work of a craftsman and of the hands of a goldsmith; Violet and purple are their clothing; They are all the work of skilled men. 10 But the LORD is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth quakes, And the nations cannot endure His indignation. 11 Thus you shall say to them, "The gods that did not make the heavens and the earth will perish from the earth and from under the heavens." 12 {It is} He who made the earth by His power, Who established the world by His wisdom; And by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens. 13 When He utters His voice, {there is} a tumult of waters in the heavens, And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain, And brings out the wind from His storehouses. 14 Every man is stupid, devoid of knowledge; Every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols; For his molten images are deceitful, And there is no breath in them. 15 They are worthless, a work of mockery; In the time of their punishment they will perish.

Brian T's question was very good. The apron you ladies wear in your kitchen is also used by the masonic lodge. The cookies your children eat are fashioned after cakes that are offered every day to false deities all over the world and historically in ages past. How far you gonna carry this thing?

Gen 4:21-22 The harp and organ are of the line of Cain. The kitchen knife you use and the hammer your husband carries is of the line of Cain. Lets see.....what else can I find?

You can be real "Godly" and go back to living in a cave with stone tools and thatch clothing. Is that where this is heading?

    Thanks -----Bart

I notice no on has broached the question about the "pagan" sun symbol on the original KJV title page.

Walls, I can maybe see some of your concerns, but the section on egg shaped windows was a bit over the top, don't you think? Too me that destroyed the credibility of the site.

Maybe the question will be broached, but if so, those who love the NKJV should broach the symbol still present on their Bible.

Personally, I found the website Walls pointed us to quite interesting. In a religious context such as the Mormon Temple these items IMO do have spiritual significance. The one thing that does bother me about this page is the curious link to David Icke's site at the bottom. Icke is a new age guru who has made all kinds of false prophecies pertaining to global warming, rising sea levels etc. The man is a crank and I think this discredits the site somewhat. Having said that, I found the web page informative.

I think many of the comments directed at Walls have been less than "with grace," and "seasoned with salt." Perhaps the brother over stretched the point by moving from the spiritual occultic context of Mormonism, into the world of domestic aesthetics and ornamentation. Nevertheless it cannot be denied that "the whole world lieth in wickedness." (1 John 5:19b).
